Macnica provides production simulation software "Plant Simulation" to Somic Ishikawa ~ Supporting digital twin of production sites to accelerate DX promotion and human resource development ~

Macnica (headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter "Macnica") announced today that it has provided its production simulation software, Plant Simulation * 1, to Somic Ishikawa Inc. (office: Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Saito Kaname; hereinafter "Somic Ishikawa").

Background
Somic Ishikawa is an automotive parts manufacturer that specializes in ball joints, which are essential parts for the suspension of automobiles. The company aims to establish a sustainable management base and data-driven management that can flexibly respond to environmental changes, and as part of this, it is working on cyber-physical systems (CPS). Although the company has been working to visualize production operation status using IoT, it was required to realize a digital twin that uses the acquired information to create the factory itself in a digital space.

■ Features of Plant Simulation
This software uses 3D models to realistically simulate manufacturing processes, making it easy to verify equipment layout and work content to improve efficiency. It also allows for detailed analysis and optimization of simulation results, contributing to the formulation of efficient production plans. Macnica 's hands-on support, which helps ensure rapid realization of benefits after implementation, was also a deciding factor in selecting the software.

■ Effects after implementation
1. Contributing to the study of new process steps and improvements to existing lines:
Simulation makes it possible to optimize processes and identify areas for improvement, enabling the design of efficient production lines.
2. Contributing to DX talent development through production simulators:
Contributes to developing human resources with IT skills through experience in model creation and data sets.
3. It also serves as a communication tool both inside and outside the company:
By showing simulations, you can achieve smooth communication within your company and with business partners, making it possible to share your image and vision.

■ Future plans
1. Deployment to each factory and incorporation into business processes:
Plant Simulation is utilized in each factory and incorporated into daily work processes to achieve efficiency.
2. Realization of real-time simulation:
The aim is to conduct real-time simulations using IoT data and propose immediate improvement measures.
3. Expansion to overseas bases and global utilization:
The company plans to introduce Plant Simulation not only in Japan but also at its overseas bases, aiming to visualize and optimize its global production processes.

Macnica will continue to provide Somic Ishikawa with advanced support for the use and operation of Plant Simulation, as well as accompany the company as it works to realize data-driven management.

Macnica 's "Digital Synergy Factory" * 2 is based on the concept of "Experience First Changes People and Manufacturing," and uses cutting-edge knowledge and technology to address all of our customers' management challenges and accelerate business innovation.

*1: Plant Simulation
Plant Simulation is production simulation software that realizes a digital twin of Siemens' production preparation and manufacturing site. By constructing a virtual factory line on a computer and reproducing the flow of people and materials in a manner close to reality, it is possible to quickly perform simulations for efficient bottleneck analysis and variable-production production.

*2: Digital Synergy Factory (DSF)
This is the general term for Macnica 's solutions and services that accelerate digital transformation (DX) in the manufacturing industry. We formulate actionable roadmaps based on global best practices and provide quick solutions that value changing the mindsets and behavior of those involved. We will accompany you through the execution of the experience and operation to achieve your goals.
