Macnica provides production simulation software "PlantSimulation" to Tanaka Seimitsu Kogyo - Improving manufacturing processes to realize "factories that connect to the future" -

Macnica (headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter referred to as Macnica) announced today that it has provided its production simulation software, Plant Simulation * 1, to Tanaka Precision Industries Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Eiichiro Tanaka; hereinafter referred to as Tanaka Precision Industries).

Background
Tanaka Seimitsu Kogyo is an automobile parts manufacturer that handles the parts that are at the heart of gasoline engines. In addition to the high technical capabilities that allow them to manufacture high-precision, high-performance products, their major strengths include an integrated processing system that covers everything from plastic processing to lathing, cutting, heat treatment, finishing, and part assembly and inspection, and they have earned strong support from customers, mainly major automobile manufacturers.
In order to respond to market changes caused by the recent shift to EVs, the company was required to design new manufacturing processes and improve on-site operations in addition to its existing precision machining technologies. For a company with a consistent manufacturing process, simulations on Excel had their limitations, and visualization and optimization of the manufacturing process was an urgent need. Therefore, the company decided to introduce "Plant Simulation," a production simulation software that can digitally reproduce and verify everything related to the manufacturing process.

■ Effects after implementation
1. Facilitating numerical evaluation and efficient verification:
It is now possible to easily calculate the values for each manufacturing process pattern, making it easier to evaluate space efficiency, lead time, intermediate inventory, and more, enabling efficient verification.
2. Realization of dynamic evaluation:
It is now possible to perform dynamic evaluations that were difficult to perform using Excel, such as simulating the operating efficiency of AGVs (automated guided vehicles) and equipment downtime, contributing to improving the efficiency of the production process.
3. Improved competitiveness and faster on-site improvements:
Digital reproduction of existing factories enables common conversations with on-site members. Optimization through simulation allows for rapid on-site improvements, strengthening competitiveness against other companies.

■ Future plans
1. In-house simulation:
By having on-site engineers master Plant Simulation and developing simulation models in-house, we can achieve more flexible and rapid improvements to our manufacturing processes.
2. Linkage with manufacturing execution systems:
In the future, we plan to consider linking Plant Simulation with a manufacturing execution system (MES) to achieve even more advanced optimization of the production process.
3. Continuous improvement:
In order to constantly respond to changes in the market, we will continue to use simulations and improve our manufacturing processes, aiming to eventually realize a "factory that connects to the future."

Macnica is a Digital Synergy Factory * 2 Based on the concept of "Experience first changes people and manufacturing," we will use cutting-edge knowledge and technology to help our customers with all their management issues and accelerate management innovation. In addition to providing advanced support for the use and operation of Plant Simulation to Tanaka Seimitsu Kogyo, we will continue to accompany them as they work to realize their goal of creating a "factory that connects to the future."

*1: Plant Simulation
Plant Simulation is production simulation software from Siemens that creates a digital twin of production preparation and the manufacturing site. By constructing a virtual factory line on a computer and reproducing the flow of people and materials in a manner close to reality, it is possible to quickly perform simulations for efficient bottleneck analysis and variable-production production.

*2: Digital Synergy Factory
A general term for Macnica 's manufacturing and AI knowledge, services, and technology. With agility as the keyword, we provide modular services for each task and process in the manufacturing industry. Customers can freely use services according to their needs. By combining these technologies, anyone can easily and quickly realize a smart factory in stages.
