We will show you how to set up the Smart Motor Sensor (Mpression Smart Motor Sensor) and attach it to a motor.

*Smart Motor Sensor will be referred to as SMS below.

1. Mobile app installation

To set up SMS, first install the mobile app.
Please download it using this QR code.

To check that you have a signal, connect the smartphone you will be using to set up the SMS to the Wi-Fi network you plan to connect to.

2. Addition of new sensors

Launch the SMS app and tap "Add new sensor."

*If this is your first time using SMS, some parts of the screen may be different, but proceed by adding a new sensor.

Please allow the use of location information and select the network that you have previously connected to from your smartphone.

3. Inserting the battery

You will be taken away from the app for a while.

Remove the hexagonal bolt on the top of the SMS body and open the lid.

Insert the batteries into the internal battery box. Four lithium AA batteries are used.

Once the battery is inserted, replace the cover. Return to the app and tap "Battery Inserted."

4. Connect SMS to the network

After inserting the battery, open the Wi-Fi settings screen on your smartphone. The SSID that appears will be the same as the serial number in the SMS, so connect to that network.

After that, when you return to the app, you will be taken to the connection screen.

Select the SSID you want to connect to and enter the password. Tap "Connect" to go to the sensor setup screen.

When you see the message "Sensor is connected to the cloud," the network setup is complete.

5. Enter motor information

Tap "Set motor details now" and enter the motor information.

Once you have entered the information, click Continue to proceed.

※The blank spaces in the image are optional.

When adding a new device, register the installation location using location information.

Motors can be classified by installation location and given names for easy management.

Enter the factory name and process name, then tap "Add this process."

Finally, let's enter some additional information about the motor.

For the bearing manufacturer name, please leave this field blank if the bearing manufacturer is not one of the following:

SKF

NTN

FAG (Schaeffler)

KOYO (JTECT)

NSK

NACHI (Nachi-Fujikoshi)

 

This completes the settings on the app side.

6. Installation of aluminum clamp

Temporarily attach the aluminum clamp that comes with the SMS to the main body. Leave some play so that it is easy to attach to the motor.

7. Attaching to the motor

The SMS is attached to the cooling fins of the three-phase motor.

The installation position should be in the center of the cooling fin next to the motor, on the anti-load side.

To improve adhesive strength, sand the SMS attachment points of the three-phase motor cooling fins.

 Then, apply the included adhesive to the sanded area.

The SMS is fixed to the three-phase motor by clamping it with an aluminum clamp to the mounting point where adhesive has been applied, and then fixing it in place using a hex wrench.

Extra: Replacing the sensor with another motor

If you want to transfer the installed SMS to another motor, you must follow the steps below.

1. Cloud reset
This will be done by Macnica. Please contact your sales representative.

②Sensor reset
This will be done on your app. SMS Launch the app and tap "Reset sensor" on the settings screen.

Connect to the SMS network you want to reset.

Once connected to the SMS network, follow the instructions displayed in the app to complete the reset.
