Macnica Develops and Begins Accepting Orders for the Industry's First "Perovskite IoT Kit for Indoor Evaluation," Featuring EneCoat Technologies' Perovskite Solar Cells - Accelerating the Social Implementation of Perovskite Solar Cells -

Macnica (Headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter Macnica) announces the development of the industry's first "Perovskite IoT Kit for Indoor Evaluation" equipped with perovskite solar cells developed by EneCoat Technologies Co.,Ltd. (Headquarters: Kuze-gun, Kyoto, Japan; Representative Director and President Executive Officer CEO: Naoya Kato; hereinafter "Enecoat"), and today the company began taking orders.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are a technology that is attracting attention as a leading candidate for next-generation solar cells because they are thin, light, flexible, and can be made semi-transparent depending on the material. Because they can generate electricity even with low light levels, they will be able to provide independent power sources in a variety of places, such as small electronic devices around us, on the walls of buildings where solar panels could not be installed until now, and in outer space. Furthermore, large-area coating technology is expected to significantly reduce costs.
Furthermore, in the future, when countless sensors are expected to be installed throughout our daily environments, securing power sources for these sensors is said to be a major issue. Enecoat's PSCs, which can maintain high power generation efficiency even under low light conditions, are highly anticipated as a promising power source that can solve this issue.

Macnica, with a track record of research and implementation in areas such as AI and IoT, with semiconductors at its core, has been developing an air quality sensor * using PSCs from Enecoat, a PSCs development startup spun out of Kyoto University, since 2022, and has been conducting ongoing demonstration experiments. The newly developed kit supports wireless communication via a microcontroller, providing an environment in which to verify indoor power generation and basic IoT device operation. The PSCs installed in this kit are designed for use in low-light indoor environments, allowing users to confirm power generation performance in real-world environments. This will enable developers to more efficiently and smoothly develop IoT devices and embedded systems that utilize PSCs.

■ Features of the "Perovskite IoT Kit for Indoor Evaluation"
This kit provides an environment in which you can verify the performance and operation of IoT devices that utilize PSCs.
- Equipped with temperature, humidity and illuminance sensors, it can evaluate the operation and power generation capacity of PSCs.
- Surplus electricity is stored in secondary batteries, and a hybrid power supply configuration is adopted in which the device is powered by the secondary batteries when power generation is insufficient, and by the primary batteries when the secondary batteries are insufficient, allowing for continuous operation even at night or in dark places.
〇External dimensions: 155.3mm x 125.3mm x 25mm
