Regarding the photo published in this release released on October 10th, the perovskite solar cell module that Specially Appointed Professor Miyasaka was holding was manufactured in China, but it was used in this demonstration project supported by the Ministry of the Environment. It is not something you do. This demonstration project will use a Japanese-made perovskite solar cell module currently under development. The photo has been deleted and the text has been partially revised. We apologize for any misunderstanding this may have caused.

Perovskite solar cells are a futuristic technology originating from Japan, and the development race is intensifying around the world. The inventor, Professor Miyasaka, and Macnica have begun work on social implementation as part of a Ministry of the Environment demonstration project.

Macnica (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Representative Board Director President: Kazumasa Hara, hereinafter referred to as "Macnica") has been selected by the Ministry of the Environment for the "Development and Demonstration of Carbon Neutral Technology Development and Demonstration Project for Regional Co-Creation and Cross-Sectoral Carbon Neutrality" by the Ministry of the Environment, and Reiwa 5 We have decided to start a three-year technology development and demonstration project from the fiscal year. This project will be promoted by three companies: Pexel Technologies Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, President: Tsutomu Miyasaka), Reiko Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, President: Junichi Iwai, hereinafter referred to as "Reiko"), and Macnica under the guidance of Project Professor Tsutomu Miyasaka of Toin Yokohama University, the inventor of perovskite solar cells.

■Light, thin, bendable, and paintable! Solar power generation changes the concept of power generation. Technology originating in Japan is being developed in competition all over the world.
The use of natural energy has been rapidly expanding in recent years as a decarbonization technology. Among these, perovskite solar cells are attracting attention all over the world and sparking research and development competition in various countries. This is a Japanese technology invented by Specially Appointed Professor Tsutomu Miyasaka of Toin University of Yokohama. It is 1/100th the weight of conventional solar panels. It is light, thin, flexible, and can be coated, and it can also generate electricity with a small amount of light, making it possible to generate electricity on the walls of city buildings, curved areas, and indoors, and generating electricity from clothing, which has never been done before. It is a cutting-edge technology that changes the concept of power generation depending on how you use it. Although it originated in Japan, foreign companies with huge investments have taken the lead in development, and the Japanese government has announced that it will make a national effort to put perovskite solar cells into practical use. This time, Macnica is working with Project Professor Miyasaka on the first technology development and demonstration project in a harsh environment with full support from the Ministry of the Environment.

■We will develop and demonstrate technology for practical application in the port area of Yokohama City, the birthplace of perovskite.
The location for this technology development and demonstration is Yokohama City. A large-scale demonstration will be conducted in a location that is visible to the general public, using part of Yokohama Pier in the Minato Mirai area, which is a well-known tourist destination. Taking advantage of its port-facing characteristics, we will conduct demonstrations under a variety of conditions, including harsh environments such as salt damage, on top of a corrugated roof, and on a larger surface area. The main technical developments are as follows.

1. Establishment of a cell manufacturing coating method that achieves cost requirements when assuming replacement
2. Establishment of junction structure and optimal sealing module configuration for harsh outdoor environments
3. Developing panels that can be used in harsh environments such as port facilities

In developing these technologies, we collaborated with Reiko, which has thin film crystal product manufacturing technology. Macnica will promote the business as a business supervisor, while leveraging its experience in social implementation of IoT and AI to develop power unit systems using Japanese-made perovskite solar cell modules. There are still only a few examples of perovskites being commercialized in the world. Because Japan is geographically difficult to install solar panels, we aim to realize a future society where solar panels can be independently secured anywhere by commercializing them on a large scale.

*Demonstration location: Large Pier (owned and designated by Yokohama City Port Bureau)

■Comment from Specially Appointed Professor Tsutomu Miyasaka
``This project has great significance as it involves developing technology to socially implement perovskite, a new type of solar cell invented in Japan and developed in Yokohama, and demonstrating it at the main pier in Yokohama's Minato Mirai district. The second thing is to display it in a place where people can see it, and to demonstrate its practical durability while exposing it to strong sunlight and sea breeze without any obstacles casting shadows around it.Unlike conventional solar cells, We will develop lightweight and bendable solar cells that are produced domestically without relying on imports and manufactured using Japan's advanced solution coating technology.Lightness is required for many applications. Perovskite solar cells can achieve exactly this while maintaining high conversion efficiency. Toin Yokohama University, which has achieved world-class results in its cutting-edge research, is also cooperating in this technology development and demonstration project. I’ll go.”

■ Macnica takes on the challenge of global environmental issues by implementing cutting-edge technology.
Recent environmental changes have become increasingly serious and have become a top priority issue that must be solved on a global scale. Macnica not only handles semiconductors, but also works with partner companies to solve environmental problems by utilizing cutting-edge technologies from around the world. Energy and resource circulation solutions with a focus on decarbonization and energy conservation, energy management systems that manage energy usage so that it can be used without wasting it, garbage disposal machines that recycle garbage as resources, and natural energy without wasting it. We are developing Services & Solutions every day to realize a "recycling-oriented society" where resources such as storage batteries are produced locally for local consumption. Macnica will continue to work with you through trial and error in order to change the world with technology. Please look forward to Macnica in the future.
