Macnica collaborates with the Tokyo metropolitan government on a demonstration project for Indoor air quality monitoring solution using "perovskite solar cells," which is the first local government to develop next-generation solar cells - Visualizing indoor air quality with sustainable energy -

Macnica (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, President: Kazumasa Hara, hereinafter Macnica) is collaborating with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to conduct a demonstration project for Indoor air quality monitoring solution using perovskite solar cells, the first * 1 for a local government. We are pleased to announce today that we have started.

Agreement signing ceremony: From left: Takemasa Sato Managing Director, Member of the Board Macnica, Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo,
Mr. Naoya Kato President EneCoat Technologies Co.,Ltd.

"Perovskite Solar Cells ("PSCs")" are a technology that is attracting attention as a promising next-generation solar cell because they are thin, light, bendable, and can be made translucent depending on the material. Since it can generate electricity even with a small amount of light, it is now possible to obtain independent power sources in a variety of places, including small electronic devices around us, the walls of buildings where it was previously impossible to install solar panels, and outer space. Significant cost reductions are expected through large-area coating technology.
Macnica, which has a track record of research and implementation in AI, IoT, etc. with semiconductors as its core, last year introduced an air quality sensor that uses "perovskite solar cells" from EneCoat Technologies Co.,Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Enecourt), a startup from Kyoto University. We have continued to develop and conduct demonstration experiments, and now, with the cooperation of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Enecourt and three parties have decided to begin a demonstration project, the first of its kind in a local government, and also the first in an actual office environment * 1. became.
The "air quality sensor" used here is one of Macnica 's solutions that constantly checks and monitors air quality. Visualizes whether the air quality in a space is comfortable for you to live in, based on CO2, PM (dust), harmful substances, and humidity/temperature values (product name: AiryQonnect * 2). By incorporating "perovskite solar cells", it is expected that it will be possible to observe air quality with less environmental impact, as it will be able to secure an independent power supply, have more freedom in installation locations, and eliminate the need to replace batteries.
In the future, we will use the office room of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building as a demonstration site for air quality monitoring (CO2, temperature, humidity, and illuminance), and will study and conduct research toward the mass production of IoT sensor terminals equipped with "perovskite solar cells." We will proceed with verification. Taking this opportunity, the three parties will actively work to commercialize "perovskite solar cells" as a sustainable energy source, and to improve the quality of life of Tokyo residents by improving air quality.
