The "Astra Machina SL2619 Evaluation Kit," an SoC compatible with the Synaptics SL2600 series, has been released.

The SL2600 series supports the Synaptics Torq™ Edge AI platform, which is the first to feature Synaptics' proprietary T1 NPU and Google 's Coral™ NPU.
The SL2619 is primarily targeted at the development of Edge AI and IoT devices.

The SL2619 combines the ease of use and power efficiency of the Google Coral™ NPU with the advanced computing power of Synaptics'T1 NPU, including Transformer support and BFLOAT16. This allows it to efficiently handle not only traditional image recognition (Coral 's strength) but also the latest generative AI and natural language processing (T1 's strength) all on a single chip, which is the greatest strength of the SL2619.

Torq promotes a developer-first approach, providing an open-source edge AI compiler and runtime based on IREE/MLIR, and supporting industry-standard model formats such as PyTorch, ONNX, JAX, and TFLite (LiteRT).

This evaluation kit fully utilizes the processor 's performance, contributing to developers' prototype design and evaluation.

If you're planning on developing AI in the future, please try this SoC.

Features

The Astra Machina evaluation system is supported by the open Yocto Linux distribution, which is provided as part of the Synaptics ESSDK and is available on the Synaptics Astra GitHub repository. The Synaptics AI toolkit provides a feature-rich and robust open-edge AI platform that caters to all stages of the AI journey, from beginners to advanced users.

We create video and display pipelines using industry-standard open-source libraries and frameworks such as GStreamer and V4L2. We leverage multi-TOPS NPUs to perform inference for various functions such as object detection, classification, and segmentation.
In addition, AI-powered audio algorithms such as long-range voice, wake word, echo cancellation, noise reduction, and voiceprint recognition are also available.
