Synaptics Astra™ Product Overview
Astra is a platform that supports the development of a wide range of IoT products, centered around Edge AI.
The "SL series" is a SoC with a high-performance configuration suitable for video and audio processing, enabling AI functions to be processed at the edge without relying on cloud or network environments.
This enables agile AI response while protecting data privacy, and allows for balancing power and AI performance at the edge.
Astra Machina™ Product Overview
Astra Machina™ is an evaluation kit for verifying Astra series SoCs. It allows for easy execution of AI processing using data such as video and audio, enabling rapid development and verification of smart devices incorporating object detection, speech recognition, and other technologies.
It runs on open Linux (Yocto) provided by Synaptics and can be obtained from Synaptics Astra GitHub. It supports Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth®, and comes pre-loaded with the necessary software, sample code, and pre-trained models for AI development, reducing the effort required for environment setup and implementation, allowing users from beginners to advanced levels to progress with AI development at their own pace.
Synaptics Astra™ Machina SL2600 Development Kit
The latest "Synaptics Astra™ Machina SL2600 Development Kit" is an evaluation kit that enables cutting-edge edge AI to be implemented on a single device.
The SL2600 series (SoC) targeted by this evaluation kit is a next-generation edge AI processor equipped with the following two NPUs:
-Synaptics' proprietary NPU T1 is used for primary computing (responsible for high-performance, highly efficient routine AI processing).
• Google Coral™ NPU performs interpolation (compensating for unsupported processes with flexible computation support).
It supports a wide range of AI processing, including not only image recognition but also generative AI and natural language processing.
This single device can combine multiple AI functions (multimodal AI), such as detecting objects by analyzing camera footage in real time, having a robot act based on the results, and simultaneously understanding voice input to interact with the user. Because it can process in real time without relying on the cloud, it is also suitable for applications such as robotics and drones.
This evaluation kit provides an environment for easily evaluating the performance of the SL2600 series, and by supporting Linux-based environments and various AI frameworks, it enables smooth AI development and prototyping.
Synaptics Astra™ Machina SL1600 Development Kit
The "Synaptics Astra™ Machina SL1600 Development Kit" is a kit that allows for flexible evaluation and development of edge AI systems that combine video, audio, and AI processing.
This evaluation kit supports all Synaptics SL1600 series SoCs, including the SL1680, SL1640, and SL1620, allowing users to choose from multiple models based on performance and application. The SL1600 series excels in edge AI, particularly image recognition and speech processing, and is suitable for building systems that utilize video input and display output.
We can develop systems that incorporate AI functions linked to video and audio, such as AI cameras that detect people and objects using camera input and display the detection results on the screen, and smart home appliances that control screen displays and devices in response to voice input.
This evaluation kit allows you to compare multiple SoCs, making it suitable for selecting the optimal configuration for your product while balancing performance and cost.
If you're planning on developing AI in the future, please try this SoC.
