At a private show held at Vision Center Yokohama on Friday, December 8, 2023, KMC Corporation (hereinafter referred to as KMC) introduced a press die monitoring device (product name: Press Monitoring) equipped with the semiconductor strain sensor STERAL. KMC handles various sensor information that replaces the five senses of craftsmen, providing solutions for controlling processing machines and improving defects. The STREAL-equipped sensor unit attached to the press die is used for sensing solutions for processing status and the die. This groundbreaking system collects sensing data from 1,200 points on a high-speed press machine and displays the waveforms on a PC. The STREAL-equipped sensor unit detects the pressure applied to the die, and when combined with the Σ Gunshi II software, which analyzes and monitors the data, it identifies the mechanism behind processing abnormalities and contributes to reducing defects.
The "Press Monitoring" that has been decided to come standard with STREAL will primarily target auto parts manufacturers and precision press manufacturers. Conventional strain measurement products are large in size, making it difficult to incorporate them into molds, but STREAL's measurement circuitry is integrated into semiconductors, making it possible to use it in a space-saving manner. The advantages of its sensitivity in detecting changes in press machines and molds, low voltage (3.3V) operation, control via digital communication, and noise resistance led to its adoption.
We will continue to work with KMC, which aims to expand overseas, to develop various sensing solutions that utilize STREAL. Please check the URL below to find out more about other digital solutions offered by KMC.
