We propose the first step toward the realization of a smart home by controlling household appliances with mobile devices using the evaluation board equipped with Marvell's “88MW300”.

Do you know the "smart plug" that is already spreading to general households in the United States and China?
It is an excellent product that enables Wi-Fi compatibility of home appliances and power control without making any changes to the home appliances to be controlled. The smart plug is equipped with a Wi-Fi module and a power relay circuit, and the Wi-Fi module receives instructions from the smartphone and transmits "ON/OFF" to the power relay circuit.

It's easy to use, just insert the smart plug into the outlet (wall) and plug the power plug of the home appliance into it. This smart plug is expected to be applied to a wider range of applications in the future by using functions such as voice recognition.

This time, as an application example of the smart plug, we will introduce a system example that connects to the AWS cloud and enables power control with instructions on Twitter.

Twitter can be used as an instruction from a smartphone, for example. You can switch "ON / OFF" by tweeting the keyword that the cloud side remembered in advance.
