Features
The ADXL372 is an ultra-low power 3-axis accelerometer.
It has a detection range of ±200g and consumes only 22μA of current at an output data rate of 3200Hz.
For low power operation, the front end is not powered on and off, so there is no possibility of aliasing noise at the sensor output.
Additionally, since it is equipped with FIFO, it is possible for the user to set a threshold and only capture accelerations that exceed the threshold.
Equipped with I2C and SPI interfaces, it can easily interface with common microprocessors.
- Batteries and products that can last for several years are required.
- I want to easily communicate with the microprocessor.
- I want to detect acceleration using a set threshold as a trigger.
If any of these apply to you, the ADXL372 is the perfect product for you.
The ADXL372 power supply operates from 1.6 to 3.5V.
Current consumption is only 22μA with an output data rate of 3200Hz.
Therefore, it can be operated even with a single coin battery.
Additionally, by using instant-on mode and wake-up mode together, current consumption can be further reduced.
Instant-on mode limits current consumption to 1.4μA by limiting functionality until the target threshold is exceeded.
When the acceleration sensor detects the target threshold, it switches to normal measurement mode and begins operation.
In wake-up mode, the device powers down for the time set by the wake-up timer.
Also, when the time is up, it will switch to measurement mode.
By repeatedly turning on and off at set intervals, power consumption can be greatly reduced.
In this way, by combining low power consumption mode and measurement mode according to the application, operation with low power consumption is achieved.
The ADXL372 has the ability to operate the entire system in low power mode, making it ideal for applications that require long-term operation for several years.
The ADXL372 has a FIFO that can buffer up to 512 samples.
This FIFO allows the ADXL372's accelerometer to continue collecting measurement data autonomously.
Additionally, when used in conjunction with the ADXL372's trigger mode function, it is possible to operate the microprocessor in sleep mode until the set trigger is detected.
- Put the microprocessor into sleep mode (<0.1 μA approx.)
By operating the two functions simultaneously, the power consumption of the entire system being designed can be significantly reduced.
Interfaces are SPI and I2C
ADXL372 can communicate via SPI and I2C.
SPI and I2C are found in many general-purpose microprocessors, making them relatively easy to develop.
ADXL372 is a 16-pin LGA package.
The size is 3mm x 3.25mm x 1.06mm.
It's a very thin and small package.
Ideal for applications where space is limited.
