Silicon Labs CP210x: I run the CP2102 from a 3.3V onboard power supply, is it ok to apply 3.3V to the REGIN pin?

CP21xx

When using CP2102 with 3.3V power supply from the board, the recommended circuit in the data sheet (USB Self-Powered, Regulator Bypassed) can be used as a reference, but in this circuit the 3V system is connected to the REGIN pin. (See diagram below)

On the other hand, the REGIN pin input voltage is specified between 4.0 and 5.25V.

When operating the CP2102 with a 3.3V onboard power supply, connect a 3V system to REGIN according to the recommended circuit. The REGIN pin input voltage specification (4.0 to 5.25V) is specified when using the internal regulator, and does not apply when operating with 3.3V onboard power supply (not using the internal regulator).
