This time, we will introduce an example of environmental sensor monitoring that enables wide-area monitoring by combining an IoT sensor using BLE (Bluetooth® Low Energy) and a Bluetooth Router. You can start evaluation immediately by combining the evaluation board provided by the semiconductor manufacturer with the sample firmware created by Macnica.

Bluetooth Router

Many IoT sensor terminals that operate with low power consumption use Bluetooth, but I think many people generally have the image that Bluetooth is a one-to-one connection with a short communication distance. This is a big issue when considering the use in large-scale facilities.

This problem can be solved by using Bluetooth Router.

Any device can be connected

Bluetooth Router does not select any device as long as it is general BLE. The BLE module used this time has the function of sensing the surrounding environment (temperature and humidity) without a battery and reporting the data obtained from the sensor via BLE communication. If you use Bluetooth Router, you can connect to the network without changing the settings of the BLE device.

The temperature and humidity of each room can be measured in real time, and if wearable terminals/devices such as sphygmomanometers, respirators, heart rate monitors, and blood glucose meters are connected, remote centralized management is possible.
