Digital Electricity (Remote Power Supply)

To digitize buildings, agricultural facilities, outdoor stadiums, etc., intelligent sensors are installed that send real-time data to the cloud. These centers are equipped with communication and data processing capabilities, and power supply wiring is required over long distances, which is inefficient and costly. Large-scale facilities such as stadiums, convention centers, office towers, warehouses, and plantations require a lot of effort to install heavy cabling, making it difficult to digitize them. Digital Electricity™ is a new technology that is the perfect way to easily install digitalization and power supply equipment for smart applications. It has many advantages over traditional power supply methods because it can efficiently supply power over long distances without incurring costs. With Digital Electricity™, 2kW of power can be transmitted efficiently and safely to remote locations up to 2km, and it can be installed at a low cost because it uses commercially available data communication cables.

Wireless Charging Station

Vicor's 48V PRM buck-boost regulator is integrated into the RF transmitter of a wireless charging station, which wirelessly powers the RF receiver inside the robot or automated guided vehicle. The PRM regulator receives 48V from an AC-DC power supply and adjusts it to the required output voltage, between 20V and 55V.

Vicor's PRM regulators provide highly efficient power conversion over a wide range of load impedances, allowing the converter to operate in both "full charge" and "trickle charge" modes without significant loss of efficiency even at low output power, a flexibility not available in similar converters.

Life Cycle

Coral Reef Cultivation System

The coral reef growth system creates a foundation for new coral reefs by electrolyzing seawater and depositing calcium carbonate (limestone) on large steel frames that act as electrodes (anodes and cathodes). In nature, it takes hundreds of years for the limestone necessary for coral growth to form, but with this innovative technology, it can be created in just five years.

Vicor's Factorized Power Architecture (FPA) technology is well suited to this application, converting the widely fluctuating voltages of renewable energy into the precise voltages required for an optimal electrolysis process. If the electrolysis process is too slow, the limestone will not grow, but if it is too fast, the limestone will become brittle.

Autonomous Offshore Power System (AOPS)

Vicor Power Systems (VPS), a design team specializing in the development of custom power systems, was able to meet the stringent requirements by incorporating Vicor's latest power modules to develop a high power density, highly efficient solution that can operate over a very wide 30:1 input range (from heavy storms to relatively calm seas), dynamically regulates output voltage to match fluctuations in wave energy, and also supports external dominance control.
