LPDDR5/5X SDRAM products are volatile memory devices that are the fifth generation of LPDDR, a low-power DDR standard.
LPDDR5 supports a maximum data transfer speed of 6,400Mbps, while LPDDR5X supports 8,533Mbps.
The small size and wide bandwidth of LPDDR5/5X makes it an ideal memory solution not only for mobile devices, but also for industrial and automotive equipment that require high performance.
Features of LPDDR5/5X
High speed operation
- Improved data rate (LPDDR5: up to 6,400Mbps, LPDDR5X: up to 8,533Mbps)
Data rate is 1.5 to 2 times higher than LPDDR4/4X (maximum 4,266 Mbps) (LPDDR5X is also planned to support a maximum of 9,600 Mbps)
- Bank configuration according to operating speed (16 bank mode, bank group mode)
Supports 16-bank mode for frequencies below 1,600MHz, and bank group mode for frequencies above 1,600MHz. This allows high-speed operation while minimizing the increase in prefetching.
Low power consumption
- Lower power supply voltage (VDD2 = 1.05V, VDDQ = 0.50V)
Compared to LPDDR4X (VDD2 = 1.10V, VDDQ = 0.60V), the core and IO voltages are lower.
- Introduction of new clocking scheme (WCK, RDQS)
By splitting the strobe signal into a write clock (WCK) and a read clock (RDQS), the CK speed can be reduced by 50% to 75%.
