CSS4C-1216 Series Delivers High-Accuracy Current Sensing in a Compact and Rugged Design — Ideal for High-Performance, High-Reliability Applications

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — October 16, 2025 — Bourns, a leading manufacturer of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, introduces the CSS4C-1216 series of four-terminal current sense resistors. This AEC-Q200-compliant, automotive-grade product is designed to address the precision current measurement needs of high-performance applications requiring high power handling, efficiency, and excellent thermal management. Target applications include electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), battery management systems (BMS), frequency converters, and power electronics.

The CSS4C-1216 series features an electron beam welded (EBW) metal strip construction, providing excellent long-term stability, extremely low inductance (<2nH), and excellent thermal performance. Its maximum power rating of 5W and low resistance of 0.0003Ω ensure precise and stable operation over a wide operating temperature range of –65°C to +170°C. The 4-terminal construction minimizes measurement errors due to lead resistance, supporting reliable operation in high-current circuits. Furthermore, its rugged construction ensures thermal stability and durability, making it suitable for precise current monitoring, even in space-constrained PCB layouts.

The Bourns® CSS4C-1216 series is currently available and is RoHS compliant(※1) and halogen-free(※2).
