The A89301 is a 3-phase sensorless brushless DC (BLDC) motor driver (gate driver) that operates from 5.5 V to 50 V and is one of Allegro's first QuietMotion solutions. The A89301 is ideal for ceiling fans, pedestal fans, bathroom exhaust fans, and fans and pumps in high-end consumer appliances.

A fully integrated Field Oriented Control (FOC) algorithm is used to achieve the best efficiency and acoustic noise performance. The device optimizes the starting performance of the motor in stationary, rotating and even reverse rotating conditions.

Motor speed is controlled by analog, PWM or CLOCK input. Closed loop speed control is optional and the ratio of RPM to clock frequency is programmable.

A simple I2C interface is provided to set the motor's rated voltage, rated current, rated speed, resistance and start-up settings. The I2C interface is also used for on/off control, speed control and speed reading.

The A89301 is supplied in a 24-pin, 4 mm × 4 mm QFN package (suffix ES) with an exposed thermal pad. The package is lead (Pb) free, with a tin-plated lead frame.
