The road to technical standard conformity certification Episode 1 "Let's get technical standards"

Macnica handles a variety of wireless ICs and wireless modules from Texas Instruments (hereinafter referred to as TI). In the case of TI's wireless products, there are module products and evaluation boards that have already obtained technical standard conformity certification (hereinafter referred to as technical compliance) for BLE and Wi-Fi, but there are sub-GHz band products. Only in Japan, technical compliance had not been obtained.

LAUNCHXL-CC1310

So Macnica obtained the technical certification for the "LAUNCHXL-CC1310" evaluation board, which supports the sub-GHz band. This article is a serial in which we will introduce the path to obtaining technical certification in three parts, for those who are researching about obtaining technical certification or those who are actually considering obtaining technical certification.

Why do I need to acquire a skill

Regarding this technical suitability, if you use a wireless device that does not have the technical suitability mark, it may be a violation of the Radio Law. However, some wireless devices are excluded. The "LAUNCHXL-CC1310" prepared this time has not acquired the technical suitability, so it is illegal to use it outside the anechoic chamber or anechoic box. Therefore, I decided to try to acquire technical suitability with this product this time.

In the first place, the reason why this technical conformity is compulsory is so that many people can use radio waves efficiently. There are various rules for radio waves, such as channels to be used, transmission output, and technical standards for radio equipment. By following these rules, radio waves can be used efficiently. The Technical Conformity Mark is used to prove compliance with these rules.

Some radios that do not have the Technical Conformity Mark do not comply with these rules. The use of such wireless equipment poses the problem of affecting other people's communications and making it impossible to use radio waves efficiently. Therefore, technical certification is required.

Acquisition of Technical Conformity is done at a registered certification body registered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications

TÜV Rheinland Japan Ltd.

For this acquisition, we used TÜV Rheinland Japan Co., Ltd., which conducts certification and examinations for various standards including the Radio Law.

TÜV Rheinland Japan Co., Ltd. is a registration certification body registered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications that certifies wireless devices such as wireless LAN.

There are two types of wireless authentication as follows.

Technical Standards Conformity Certification
(commonly known as “Technical Conformity”)
Each device is brought to an inspection agency to examine and prove whether it conforms to the technical standards of the Radio Law.
工事設計認証 Any one car will be screened and tested. Type approval is mainly for mass-produced products. In general, it is often the case that technical suitability is acquired first, and construction design certification is acquired during mass production.

The authentication procedure is basically the same for both, but the documents to be submitted seem to be different. This time, I applied for the above technical standards conformity certification.

In addition, TÜV Rheinland Japan Co., Ltd. not only gave me the certification, but also gave me accurate advice on creating the materials necessary for the certification, so it was my first time to acquire the technical suit, but I was able to obtain it smoothly. rice field!

In Part 2, I will introduce the preparations required to acquire the Technical Conformity Certification.

Next time, in Episode 2, "Preparing Documents," I will specifically describe what kind of equipment and documents to prepare and how to proceed in order to obtain wireless certification, so please take a look!
