What is a coreless current sensor?

A current sensor is a sensor that detects the current flowing in the current path on a circuit board or the current flowing in a bus bar. Because a magnetic field is generated around the path through which the current flows, a magnetic sensor inside the current sensor detects the magnetic field and feeds back a signal proportional to the amount of current based on the magnetic information. Among current sensors that use this magnetism, those that do not use a magnetic core are called coreless current sensors.

What is a current sensor using TMR technology?

The TLI5570-RE35E1-E0001 is a compact coreless magnetic sensor for AC and DC measurements, which utilizes innovative, robust and highly linear monolithic TMR (Tunnel Magneto-Resistance) technology to provide highly accurate current measurements. In particular, the extremely high signal-to-noise ratio performance of TMR technology enables highly accurate measurements even in low current applications.

Leveraging Infineon's extensive experience in magnetic sensor technology, the new generation of TMR sensors also offers excellent temperature stability and a long service life: the TLI5570-RE35E1-E0001 is industrial-grade certified and can operate in environments up to 125°C.

With a bandwidth of over 1.1 MHz, the sensor provides a high speed differential analog output signal that can be directly connected to a shunt resistor replacement without the need for amplification, offering advantages over shunt solutions with added functionality (no power loss in the system, galvanic isolation, reduced component count, smaller PCB footprint) and improved accuracy.
