Altera®: When launching Questa* - Altera® FPGA Edition, I get the error: Unable to checkout a license. Make sure your license file environment variables are set correctly and then run 'lmutil lmdiag' to diagnose the problem.

This error is caused by incorrect license settings.
The Questa* - Altera® FPGA Edition license settings are configured in the OS environment variables.
The contents are as follows.
| Variable name | SALT_LICENSE_SERVER |
| variable value | [For FIXED license users] Specify the saved license file using its absolute path. [For FLOAT license users] Port number@license server name (or IP address) |
Please note the following points when using Questa* - Altera® FPGA Edition with a FLOAT license:
- The vendor daemon has been updated from mgcld to saltd.
- We recommend using license daemon lmgrd and vendor daemon saltd versions 11.19.5.0 or later.
The latest license daemon is available from the manufacturer's website.

You must manually change the VENDOR daemon line in your license file from mgcld to saltd.
Example: VENDOR saltd <path to saltd>
Note: Do not change the INCREMENT line. The INCREMENT line should remain the original vendor daemon name (mgcld).
