Yoichi Ochiai's Expo Pavilion "null²" Announces Next Chapter –Macnica Provides Support, Expanding to Two Locations in Yokohama: a Permanent Theater and GREEN×EXPO 2027. "null²ⁿ" to be at Yokohama Landmark Tower in 2026, and "null⁴" at GREEN×EXPO 2027.

Media artist Yoichi Ochiai, Sustainable Pavilion 2025 Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Masataka Kimura; hereinafter referred to as Sustainable Pavilion 2025), and Macnica (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter referred to as Macnica) today announced the following two new projects that will emerge from "null² (Nurunuru)," the signature pavilion for EXPO 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, produced by Yoichi Ochiai. The first project will open a permanent theater "null²ⁿ (Nurunuru Nexus)" in Yokohama Minato Mirai Landmark in 2026, and the second project will unveil a new work, "null⁴ (Tetranull)," at the 2027 International Horticultural Exposition (GREEN×EXPO 2027) in March 2027. Macnica, as a partner that supported the development of the "null²" digital human and visitor experience platform at EXPO 2025 Osaka-Kansai (hereinafter referred to as Osaka-Kansai Expo), also announces that it will continue to provide support for the deployment of the platform at both Yokohama and GREEN×EXPO 2027.

A new project has been announced that will inherit and evolve the legacy of "null²", the signature pavilion of the Osaka-Kansai Expo.

■ What does null² (null²) mean?
"null²" was a signature pavilion produced by Yoichi Ochiai for the Osaka-Kansai Expo (April 13th to October 13th, 2025). Based on the concept of fusing the Buddhist philosophy of "emptiness" with the computer science concept of "null," it was constructed as an interactive installation combining special mirror films, LEDs, and robotics. It embodied a worldview of "computational nature" where the digital and physical worlds merge through mirrored surfaces, and attracted approximately 600,000 visitors during the Expo.
Major awards and achievements:
- Ranked #1 in Casa BRUTUS's "BEST Pavilions in Architecture & Design"
- Everyone's Architecture Awards 2026 Grand Prize (13,750 public votes - the most ever)
• Number of social media followers: Top among individual pavilions at the Expo.
- Crowdfunding project "Slippery Moving": Surpassed 100 million yen in 23 hours, ultimately raising approximately 281.5 million yen from 15,821 people.

■ Macnica 's Involvement and Role
Macnica collaborated with Sustainable Pavilion 2025 to develop and operate the "Mirrored Body®" digital human experience platform at the "null²" exhibit of the Osaka-Kansai Expo. This platform generates autonomous digital avatars from visitors' facial photos, voice recordings, and 3D scan data, enabling self-sovereign ID management. This provided an unprecedented experience within the pavilion, allowing visitors to interact with their own avatars.
Going forward, Macnica will continue to promote both the "null²ⁿ" and "null⁴" projects by providing business production support as well as assistance in designing experiences utilizing digital humans.

■ First installment: null²ⁿ (Null Nexus) — Permanent theater in Yokohama Minato Mirai
"null²ⁿ" is an installation work and permanent immersive theater that expands and inherits the internal experience of "null²". As Yoichi Ochiai's signature work, it has been reconfigured with new zones added, with the theater elements of the Osaka-Kansai Expo at its core. As the name "ⁿ (Nexus)" suggests, it will function as a permanent hub that creates further connections between "null²" and people, and is planned to host regular events and foster community building.
Furthermore, through integration with the "Mirrored Body®" app, a "computational nature experience ecosystem" that spans urban and natural spaces, and the body and digital will be developed in Yokohama. Visitors who acquired a digital avatar at the Expo can reunite with their alter ego in Yokohama.

■ Second installment: null⁴ (Tetranull) — GREEN×EXPO 2027
"null⁴" is a landscape-transforming sculpture born from the reincarnation of "null²" in nature, and is scheduled to be installed in SATOYAMA Village within the GREEN×EXPO 2027 venue. Like null², it is a "signature" work by producer Yoichi Ochiai, a sculpture that transforms the landscape by incorporating the flowers of the flowerbed, the sky, the wind, and the shadows of visitors into a rotating mirror surface, and at the same time, as a life sculpture of computational nature, it interacts with the space interactively.
"null⁴" is not merely a relocation of "null²," but rather a "reincarnation." It is an attempt to reconstruct the relationship between nature, artificial objects, computation, and humanity in a new dimension. Four Tetranum buildings, which embody the tetralemma, and a giant prayer wheel-like object rotate, incorporating landscape, light, and human presence to generate a space. In a movement that seems to distill the soul, computational nature continues its digital fermentation, establishing a new cycle of environment and perception.

■ About the Mirrored Body® app
Download the "Mirrored Body®" app, which was experienced by 170,000 people at the Osaka Expo, in advance to prepare for the ultimate experience. Your digital avatar will directly synchronize with the spatial design of Yokohama's "null²ⁿ" and GREEN×EXPO 2027's "null⁴". Enjoy a world of computational nature where digital and physical spaces merge, together with your own AI avatar.

■ Comment from Producer Yoichi Ochiai
"Born in Osaka, 'null²' has created a new landscape where computational nature, humans and AI, digital and physical merge. Next stop: Yokohama. In Minato Mirai, we will once let go of 'symbols,' and then encounter a new reality of computational nature in the deep forests of Kamiseya. This journey of computational nature, spanning city and nature, 'nowhere and everywhere,' will be a grand ceremony that affirms the beautiful 'suffering' of humanity in the age of AI. Goodbye, Homo sapiens. And welcome back, Null² forest."
