As the labor shortage becomes more serious, the security industry is being forced to operate more efficiently.
The introduction of icetana will improve the accuracy of anomaly detection and reduce the burden of security work.

background

In recent years, as labor shortages have become a serious social issue, they have become an equally significant challenge in the security field. Under these circumstances, Macnica, Sohgo Security Services, and ALSOK Tokyo introduced "icetana" handled by Macnica to "Otemachi Tower" of Tokyo Tatemono in July 2023 with the aim of realizing security that does not rely on manpower in large-scale properties in central Tokyo.
Otemachi Tower is a large-scale complex located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, and has begun operation after installing icetana on 44 surveillance cameras.

Point of introduction

No matter how excellent a technology is, it is meaningless unless it is actually used in the field. In this regard, the proactive approach of Sohgo Security Services and ALSOK Tokyo was a key point. Both companies had previously conducted demonstration experiments using icetana, and felt that the effects of the introduction were promising. In addition, since both companies have ample experience in security practice at Otemachi Tower, where the system was to be introduced, their experience and track record as security companies played a major role in the introduction and actual operation of icetana.

Roles of each company

Tokyo Tatemono promoted this project with the aim of achieving both sustainable property management and the provision of advanced services to customers by having its property management and digital transformation specialists create a more efficient management system from a facility manager's perspective.

By proactively embarking on digital transformation despite the severe labor shortage, ALSOK Security Services is contributing to a safer and more secure society. The ALSOK Tokyo security team chief, who is in charge of on-site command, promoted efforts to effectively operate icetana at security sites, including changes to the security system.

As an icetana distributor, Macnica provides support for the introduction of icetana in both sales and technical aspects, and also acts as a bridge between the manufacturer and the development department, proactively conveying the voices of security personnel in Japan to the development department, thereby contributing to improving the system to make it easier to use.

Issues identified during implementation

When the system was first introduced, it was found that it could not detect the expected incidents. Specifically, icetana's system was unable to detect vehicles driving in the wrong direction at facility entrances where driving in the wrong direction is prohibited. Macnica discussed this issue with icetana and, in addition to icetana's unique feature of detecting "unusual" anomalies, implemented a system that sets rules to accurately detect specific incidents, and was able to meet customer demands. This improved detection accuracy, enabling the company to provide more efficient security while also providing advanced services to customers.

Effects after implementation

Previously, security relied on manpower, but because time periods and locations were limited, the scope of detection depended on human resources. However, icetana is capable of constant and wide-ranging detection, making it possible to detect abnormalities that would be difficult to find in everyday security work. In addition, it has become possible to respond by focusing on the video in which icetana detects anomalies, reducing the burden on security and speeding up responses. In addition, the ability to quickly access video of past anomaly detections has led to more efficient security work, such as the creation of report materials.

Future outlook

Macnica will continue to increase the number of facilities in Japan that use icetana, and by identifying real issues in the field of security and continually improving the system, it will contribute to the realization of a safe and secure society that does not rely on human labor.
