Kaname Jun and Kintaro are acting together for the first time. They are taking on the role of a married couple at work! Kintaro is taking on the role of a mother for the first time and is supposed to "keep her funny faces to herself", but behind the scenes... even Kaname Jun bursts out laughing. The "McNi Family" commercial series featuring a quirky couple and their daughter will begin airing on October 4th!

Macnica (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara, hereinafter Macnica) will air the "Makuni Kazoku" TV commercial series starring Jun Kaname, Kintaro Kintaro, and Akira Kanai from October 4, 2010. (headquartered in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") will begin airing the "Class Visit," "On the Way Home," and "Futsal" episodes of its "Makuni Kazoku" TV commercial series starring Jun Kaname, Kintaro, and Akira Kanai on October 4, 2012.

Founded in 1972, Macnica is Japan's leading semiconductor trading company, operating as a technology trading company offering comprehensive coverage of the latest technologies, including cybersecurity and AI. With a corporate culture that embraces the challenges of various cutting-edge technologies without fear of failure, the company has seen a rapid increase in sales in recent years. This commercial showcases what makes Macnica different through a married couple (Kaname and Kintaro), who are employees and carry Macnica DNA, and a true Macnica (Kanai), who was raised by such parents. We hope you enjoy the story of the quirky Macnica family, or the Macni family.

■Highlights of the commercial:
1) An up-and-coming actress who you wouldn't recognize at first glance!? Check out Kintaro's real-life role as a mother!
Kintaro, who always makes people laugh with her funny faces, is also known for her struggles raising two girls in her private life. This is Kintaro's first commercial as a mother. Her natural smile as a mother, without any impersonation, is truly beautiful! Kaname even commented, "She could be nominated for an Academy Award." Her beautiful voice, as seen in the "Class Visit" episode, is also noteworthy. Kintaro plays a skilled cybersecurity engineer. She monitors cyber attacks around the world every day at Macnica 's Security Research Center, fighting to protect countries and industries!

2) A handsome man and a crazy mother make a strong couple! Keep an eye out for Kaname's appearance as a trading company employee and father, who endured a parade of funny faces from Kintaro during filming!
This time, Kaname plays the role of a salesman in the semiconductor business, right at the heart of Macnica 's business. Pay attention to the contrast between his appearance as a trading company employee, smartly conducting business negotiations in English while holding a semiconductor chip, and the look on his face as a father with his eyes drooping in front of his daughter. In fact, during filming, Kintaro was making funny faces next to him, and there were even scenes where he burst out laughing when the cut was called. Perhaps because of this, the shots of father and son looked very natural, like a real father and son.

3) You can't help but praise him! Check out Kanai Akira's failed body attack scene!
For the scene in which his parents, who are Macnica about his failure, praise him profusely for his failure, child actor Kanai puts all his effort into acting out a futsal failure. The scene in which he misses the ball and swings his foot, sending his shoe flying off, was particularly difficult. He struggled to "fail" properly, and tried again and again in the scorching sun. Kanai, who has appeared in two NHK morning dramas, is sure to take note of his earnest "failure." Of course, be sure to also check out Kaname and Kintaro, who praise him wholeheartedly.

■Interview after the commercial shoot:
①Please tell us what you recommend about this commercial.
Kintaro: In terms of the style, I sensed an atmosphere where I wanted to keep my usual self hidden and have an actress-like feel, but Kaname-san encouraged me in places, so I slipped in some funny faces here and there, and I'd be happy if they were used.
Kaname: When you think of Kintaro, you think of her funny faces, so I hope you'll see her unique side, but also a slightly different side to her usual self, and the balance of a wonderful family of mother, father, and child.

②Is there any memorable episode during filming?
Kintaro: I was feeling a little lonely today, thinking that I might have to give up on making funny faces, but I'll never forget how encouraging he was, and it was fun, and I felt like saying "Thank you." I sensed Kaname's message that it would be okay to make a funny face in just one of the several takes we were going to shoot, so I gave it a go, and he asked me, "What did you do? You couldn't resist?" (laughs)
Kaname: If you look closely at Kintaro's face when her profile isn't clearly visible on camera, you'll see that it's not the face of a normal mother. She makes that face when she picks up her child and cheerfully says "welcome home."
Kintaro: I thought maybe I could stand it sideways.
Kaname: One of the background stories is that the mother has a slightly crazy side.
Kintaro: It was a wonderful experience for me to make a funny face while admiring a handsome man.
Kaname: There are a lot of hints in this one.

3. I think this is your first time acting together, but what are your impressions of each other after playing the roles of a married couple?
Kintaro: If I had such a wonderful, tall husband, I think I would be so happy every day that I would be afraid of happiness.
Kaname: He is a very humble and approachable person, so I think it was easy for us to become a couple.

④Please give a message to those who will watch the commercial.
Kintaro: I've toned down my usual self so much that people might think I'm a different actress.
Kaname: It might even be nominated for an Academy Award. I hope that this commercial helps people understand what Macnica is like as a company.

⑤Have you heard of Macnica? What impression did you have of them?
Kintaro: When I attended an event at Macnica 's Nagoya branch last year, I noticed that there were a lot of families there, and I got the impression that it was a family-friendly company, with a great corporate culture and a homey atmosphere. Then, I got the job of appearing in a commercial, and I got a good impression, or rather, a welcoming atmosphere, not just for each individual, but for the whole of their life, and a strong sense of unity.
Kaname: I also participated briefly in the company event at the end. Usually, company events are very formal and people just clap, but this time the people were really excited. I heard that over 60% of the employees brought their families, so I thought it was great that everyone, including the president, could create such a great company atmosphere.

Macnica is "sowing seeds for the future." Is there anything you wish existed in your daily life or that you wish technology could solve?
Kintaro: I've been feeling the fear of AI lately. Last year, the faces of celebrities created by AI looked strange, but in less than a year, they've gotten so good that they're unrecognizable, and it's really frightening. I want a function that uses the power of technology to tell me that this is AI and that this is real. Otherwise, it will lose its usefulness, so I want a mark that makes it clear at a glance that it's AI.
Kaname: I currently live a dual life, commuting between Tokyo and Los Angeles, but the flight time is very long, so I think it would be great if there was something like a door that could go anywhere so I could get back and forth in an instant.

7 Macnica is known for "supporting failure," but have you had any recent stories of when you two failed?
Kintaro: I have two daughters and they often fight, so if I bought them two of the same thing, the fighting would decrease, so I bought them two of the same thing as usual as souvenirs, but my daughters have evolved and there's a mysterious rule that sisters can't have the same thing, so that started another fight and I realized I'd made a mistake.
Kaname: I don't really like to say it because it happens so often, but the other day I rode my bike to the convenience store and walked back, and I often threw the leftover soup in the trash after eating instant ramen, so I guess I have to be more conscious about my life than most people.

8. You played a family member this time. Have you had any funny family stories recently?
Kaname: My child is still in the lower grades, so he doesn't seem to be able to tell the difference between people on TV. He asked me if I was okay because I was talking about something difficult on TV and everyone was criticizing me a lot. I wondered what was going on since I'd never appeared on such a show or played a role, but it turned out he was a completely different politician.

9. What are your impressions of Kaname and Kintaro?
Kanai-san: He was very kind and I felt good about him. I remember we talked about a lot of different things.

10. If Kaname and Kintaro were your real parents, what kind of holiday would you like to spend together?
Kanai: I'd like to go to an amusement park and have fun spinning around in coffee cups with everyone.

⑪Please tell us about an impressive episode that occurred during filming.
Kanai-san: During the shoot, Kintaro-san was making the funny faces she does in comedy, and I thought, "Oh, it's Kintaro-san." When she quickly made that face during the shoot, I was like, "Whoa!"

⑫Please tell us if there were any difficulties during filming.
Kanai: When we were shooting the futsal scene, it was an unusually hot day, and I was running around in short sleeves, and the cuts were long and hot.

13. I believe you learned about Macnica during the filming of this commercial. What is your impression of it?
Kanai: Tanepen-kun (Macnica official mascot) was especially cute, so he left a lasting impression on me. During a break in filming, I folded a heart-shaped origami paper and wrote about Macnica on it, and packed it with lots of things like Tanepen-kun and the kids who appeared with him.
