KDDI and Macnica Support Azabudai Hills' Acquisition of WELL Certification by Providing Air Quality Monitoring Solutions - Providing a comfortable office space and supporting the health and comfort of workers -
KDDI CORPORATION Representative Director and President (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President CEO: Makoto Takahashi; hereinafter "KDDI") and Macnica (headquartered in Kohoku-ku, Yokohama; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara, hereinafter "Macnica") announced today that on May 27, 2024, they will provide a real-time air quality monitoring solution (hereinafter "Solution") to the office space of Azabudai Hills, a "Green & Wellness" theme complex operated by Mori Building Co. (hereinafter referred to as "Mori Building"), a complex facility with the theme of "Green & Wellness" operated by Mori Building. By using this solution, the results of measurements such as CO2 and PM2.5 concentrations in the air can be constantly monitored on a monitor, enabling building users to maintain the environment based on the data.
This solution meets the performance required for "air quality monitoring," one of the evaluation items of the WELL Certification (Note 1), an international evaluation standard focusing on the physical and mental health of building users.
Through the provision of this solution, KDDI and Macnica will support office tenants at Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower (hereinafter Mori JP Tower) in obtaining WELL certification, while also contributing to improving the air quality in office spaces and the physical and mental health of people working in the offices.

Background
In recent years, attention has been focused on health management, an initiative in which companies actively participate in maintaining and improving the health of their employees, leading to increased productivity. To achieve health management, it is important to create a workplace environment in which employees can work comfortably, and efforts to receive external evaluations using certification systems are also expanding. As an international evaluation standard, the "WELL Certification," which focuses on the physical and mental health of building users, has been attracting attention, and it is expected that obtaining certification will contribute to improving a company's social reputation.
・Azabudai Hills has wellness as one of the pillars supporting its concept. (Note 2) To realize wellness, it was necessary to enable "air quality monitoring" within the offices of its tenants.
・By utilizing KDDI's network infrastructure and Macnica 's cutting-edge sensor technology, we believe we can support Azabudai Hills' efforts, help its tenants obtain WELL certification, and contribute to the creation of a safe, secure, and comfortable indoor environment, which is why we have decided to offer this solution.
- In May 2024, the common areas of the Mori JP Tower's offices and commercial facilities obtained "WELL Certification."
Overview of this solution
Air quality sensor units (Note 3) provided by Macnica, which have the high instantaneous measurement accuracy, accuracy in preventing deviation over time, and long-term stability required by WELL Certification, will be installed on office floors within the building to measure humidity, temperature, CO2 concentration, PM2.5 concentration, and TVOC gas (Note 4) concentrations.
The measured data will be collected, stored, and analyzed in the KDDI IoT Cloud Standard(Note 6) via the KDDI IoT communications service LPWA line(Note 5).
・By displaying and outputting the analyzed data in real time, air quality monitoring can be achieved, which satisfies the evaluation criteria for obtaining "WELL Certification" - "air quality monitoring and awareness" and "thermal comfort monitoring."
■ Roles of each company
KDDI: Provision of KDDI IoT Cloud Standard, customization of the measurement result screen, installation of sensor units, provision of KDDI IoT communication service LPWA
Macnica: Providing high-precision "air quality sensor units" that meet the measurement requirements of WELL certification
