Iida received seven awards during his six years in sales. In recognition of his outstanding performance and his efforts to launch the product security and consulting businesses, he was promoted to head of the security consulting department in 2023.

Q1: What is your current job and what is rewarding about it?

Solutions created by bringing together all our experience

He is currently promoting the business as the head of the security consulting department, overseeing product security for the manufacturing industry, information security for OA *1 environments, and factory security for FA *2 environments.

In parallel with management, I also provide consulting services, solving a wide range of issues for clients, from technical aspects to organizational structures and business processes. This work also requires knowledge of management-level issues. At times, my own lack of knowledge can be a hindrance and I am unable to provide accurate advice to clients, but I continue to learn and strive to contribute to the success of my clients' companies.
I feel a sense of purpose and great satisfaction when I receive words of gratitude from a customer or when I am later nominated for other projects. Our objective proposals, which are unique to consulting, are often highly valued by customers, as we prioritize solving their problems rather than selling Macnica products.

Consulting is a new position at Macnica. It is a department that was strategically established to fulfill the functions and strengths that Macnica needs in order to realize VISION2030 *3, so I think it is a position where you can directly experience the company's growth.

Q2: Why did you choose Macnica?

Seeking an overwhelming growth environment

What prompted me to join Macnica was that a friend of mine was working there. He told me about Macnica 's culture, work content, and working environment, and I decided to join because I thought it might be a good fit for me. I'm the type of person who doesn't hesitate to take on challenges in an environment where I can grow, so I was motivated by the story that "Macnica entrusts even new employees with equally responsible work, so although it will be busy, you will be able to gain more work experience and grow more than working adults of the same age."

After actually joining the company, I found that there was no negative gap between my impression of the company and the work environment, but I also felt that the openness of the company exceeded my expectations. At Macnica, employees are close to each other, and we call each other by their first names rather than by their titles. I also call the president "Hara-san," and we have built such a strong relationship that we even talk to each other outside of work. The larger a company gets, the more likely it is that openness can become difficult, so I think Macnica 's openness is a major attraction and strength. As someone in charge of business operations, I also appreciate that anyone is always available to speak to me when I have a request or opinion for the management.

The atmosphere within the company is one in which we all laugh together and talk about serious things, and we all work together in a friendly and lively atmosphere.

Q3: An episode that made you grow

A culture of inherited authority and follow-up

When I first started consulting, everything was a challenge for me, as I was still new to the job. In one project, I was tasked with identifying a client's security issues and reporting on solutions, and that experience remains in my memory. I spent a lot of time preparing the report, but on the day, I wasn't able to communicate the content well, and the client pointed it out to me. I had caused the client some discomfort in the process, and I felt so remorseful that tears welled up in my eyes, embarrassingly.
It was an extremely difficult experience as I ended up worrying the customer, but with the support of my superiors and seniors, I was able to see the project through to the end, and I felt that I had grown as a person.

In other consulting work, whenever I failed or felt like giving up, my superiors and seniors would give me a lot of feedback, such as what I was lacking, how to correct my documents, what to do next, and how to approach the client, and I was grateful for that. In the next meeting with a client where I thought my proposal had failed, they came to my rescue, including a follow-up. I think that this series of experiences is unique to Macnica, where there is a culture of delegation of authority and follow-up.

Now that I'm in a position to delegate authority as a department manager, I'm conscious of leading my subordinates by walking in front of them and setting an example, rather than standing above them. My subordinates watch me as I carry out my work, imitate me, and learn and grow by reflecting on their mistakes. I've also created an environment where I can immediately support my subordinates when they're in trouble.

MY VISIONFuture goals and aspirations

We aim to establish a position for the security consulting business within the company and create an organization that can make a significant contribution to Macnica 's social and economic value.
Furthermore, security risk is only one of the management risks a company faces. I would like to build a unique organization that goes beyond security and can provide support for a wide range of risk hedging. Macnica 's strength lies in its strong ties with the manufacturing industry. We not only provide electronic components that support manufacturing, but also engage in a wide range of businesses, including digital transformation support for business optimization and security support. However, I believe there are still many business opportunities in risk management.
