- Splunk does not use the Japanese calendar, so it is not affected when the era name changes or when national holidays are added or changed.

Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Universal Forwarder do not use the Japanese calendar. There are only two variables available to specify the year in the timestamp format:
- %y - 2 digits only (00-99) without century
- %Y - Year format (e.g. 2017)
