Since this is a talk with three foreign employees, why don't we all introduce ourselves again?

Let's do it! Let's start with me. I am currently working in the sales, operation, and planning division, building next-generation systems and automating operations such as ordering and inventory management. I was born in China, but I have been living in Japan for 15 years.

I am from the Philippines and joined in 2020 as an AI engineer. Currently, I belong to the Innovation Strategy Business Headquarters, and my main job is to provide AI-based solutions to various customer issues. Specifically, we are developing technologies for image recognition, anomaly detection, and natural language processing AI. Recently, I have been working on a wide range of projects, such as the agritech field, which uses AI in agriculture, and joint projects with universities.

Hyeri was in the same department as Marana, right?

That is right! However, although I belong to the same Innovation Strategy Business Division, I am on a different team than Mr. Marana, and my work is completely different. In my case, I belong to a team that provides technical support for the development of hardware and software for construction machinery and automobile manufacturers, and I manage the entire project.

Heri, you're from France and you've been with Macnica for about a year, right?

I agree. Before joining Macnica, I was involved in project management for the development of cameras for ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) at a Japanese automobile manufacturer, but Macnica provides cutting-edge solutions to customers in various industries beyond the automobile industry. I decided to join the company, hoping that I could make use of my past experience and expand my possibilities even further.

Macnica is a company that is very attractive to employees who want to achieve something through their work. I've been with Macnica for eight years now, but before I joined Macnica, I wanted to work in a team that could work globally from a young age. Macnica is a company that does a lot of business overseas, and has a corporate culture that trusts its employees and entrusts them with challenging tasks. I remember how I felt during my job search.

That is right! I was also attracted by the fact that the team I was offered had an environment where I could use my Chinese, English, and Japanese skills.

It's true that there are quite a few positions at Macnica that require communication not only in Japanese, but also in languages other than Japanese.

I think I was really lucky to be able to join Macnica! Macnica is a global company that uses cutting-edge technology to solve global problems, and its employees come from a variety of backgrounds, yet they all get along very well. I'm very happy to work here.

Marana mentioned earlier that Macnica employees get along well, and since I joined Macnica I also feel that it's an open company where it's easy to talk to your superiors and coworkers. What is your impression of it, Heri?

I was very surprised when I joined the company. In a good way, it was not like a Japanese company! Before I joined the company, I imagined that everyone would go to work all at once in the morning and leave late at night, but that was not the case. If it's to maximize my work performance, I can use telecommuting, so I feel that I'm trusted, and I'm going to do my best.

Macnica has a ``Trust'' culture of trusting its employees. I also work based on a plan that I have created to achieve my goals, and I am left in charge of the details of the work.

This is truly team management based on "Trust." By the way, I would like to ask you one thing: Do you find it difficult to communicate? Macnica is a global company, but many of our employees are Japanese, so I'm really curious about how everyone communicates with each other.

Of course, there are no language barriers, but we are trying to take proper measures. I can't speak Japanese very well, so I usually communicate in English, but I always think with my team members how to resolve any discrepancies in our conversations, and I try to put good ideas into practice. As a result, no major problems have occurred.

Sometimes I don't understand the other person's intentions. As someone from China, I feel that Japanese communication is often ambiguous, and I often don't know if the person answers "yes" or "no" to a question. So, if there is even a little bit of ambiguity in the other person's intentions, I try to make sure that my understanding is correct.

I see. As the two of you said, differences in language and culture will inevitably occur, so it's important to find a way to bridge that gap.

You're right. Since we're talking about cultural differences, I'd like to ask you: Does your team ever read a booklet that describes Macnica 's core values? That doesn't happen often in overseas companies, right?

It's a booklet that summarizes Macnica 's core values, ``TEAMS.'' I read the material in groups and regularly discuss with my colleagues what I understood. By confirming Macnica 's unique values and having all employees share a common understanding, all employees will be able to demonstrate their strengths in the same direction as we move forward with our work. This is extremely useful when we work as a team, having different backgrounds and having been born and raised overseas!
