Night town where real and 3D overlap

Macnica is working with Expolis, LLC. to create a city that utilizes data in order to solve the various issues faced by local communities. The city OS "Anastasia" provided by Expolis, which handles data distribution for the realization of smart cities, is a data collaboration platform aimed at supporting various lifestyles in Japan.

In order to support the various ways of being in the region, we will adapt to regions of various scales by focusing on a system configuration that allows a small start, and by expanding only the functions required by the region or by expanding multiple functions.

This article introduces the challenges of Exporis and Macnica, which use technology to support the transformation and sustainability demanded by local communities.

Background of Anastasia

Anastasia (hereafter, Anastasia) was born as a platform brand that distributes data in cities and regions and supports diverse lifestyles, such as city OS and smart city platforms. We will support the resolution of regional issues and promote the realization of smart cities from a small start.

The necessity of city OS has become a topic of discussion, but I think that efforts are needed not only in cities but also as an information infrastructure in various regions. While municipalities with a population of over 100,000 have a wide variety of service facilities, municipalities with a population of less than 100,000 tend to have fewer services due to the rationality of the local economy. Such phenomena will continue to accelerate in the future.

In such regions, the role played by regional and administrative services, as well as economic services, is important. In addition, in order to enhance services, it is necessary to use advanced technologies such as IoT, AI, and robots.

The world Anastasia aims for

Anastasia provides a platform for developing local government and economic services for a variety of sectors (e.g. mobility, energy, healthcare, etc.) tailored to the region, regardless of the size of the city.

Depending on the region, it may be difficult to introduce the same service due to differences in weather conditions and lifestyles. But the basic types of services people need remain the same. If the necessary services are not sufficient, it will be a trigger to leave the area. Anastasia aims to realize a society where people can live affluent lives that match the characteristics of the land.

Anastasia mainly provides the following services as cloud services.

・Data distribution “Anastasia Connect”
・Town planning, policy planning "Anastasia Regional Analysis"
・Problem-solving sharing UI “Anastasia Solution Catalog”

Overview of three Anastasia services

The main service is "Anastasia Connect", which has a data linkage function, open data conversion of linked data, and an SDK/API that facilitates application development.

We provide various services such as "Anastasia Regional Analysis" for regional analysis corresponding to all municipalities, applications and advanced services linked to Connect, and "Anastasia Solution Catalog" for sharing knowledge.

For example, in many cases, when introducing City OS, it is difficult to make full use of the various functions of City OS, but Anastasia has separate services, so you can use only what you need. By making it a small service, we are developing it so that we can proceed with digitization according to the process of urban development.

In community development, instead of introducing complex services such as energy and mobility all at once, it is important to consult with local residents about what kind of services should be introduced with priority and implement them together with a master plan. There are many Anastasia places the greatest emphasis on usage that can match the speed of urban development, in other words, scalability. We have a lineup that matches the usage scenario of City OS.

Anastasia functional components and expansion phases

By providing related services such as Anastasia regional analysis and Anastasia solution catalog, in addition to the data linkage emphasized by City OS, a cycle of "extraction of issues → sharing of solutions → provision" will be created. Currently, we are providing Anastasia regional analysis to municipalities that have requested it as soon as possible.

We are also looking for partners for the Anastasia Solution Catalog, which is under development as a cutting-edge service using IoT and AI, as well as city OS and applications suitable for the region. We are also developing analysis tools for highly real-time data.

Many people are probably worried that they cannot move to the utilization phase without using City OS for a long time and accumulating data. In addition, even if data has already been accumulated, there may be people who are worried about how to effectively utilize the accumulated data. In Anastasia, advanced regional issues can be solved by creating a mechanism to exchange data between regions that have economic proximity or geographical proximity on the platform, and to cooperate with other platforms to exchange data. We provide technical development that leads to solutions.

By securely sharing various data, not just for each region, instead of taking measures by one local government alone, we will digitally build a collaborative relationship by sharing issues and solutions. Aiming to be

City OS is not something that must be installed, but is a presence that promotes the resolution of regional issues through its use. By mastering Anastasia, you can create a world with a wide variety of lifestyles.

Integration with other Anastatia platforms

Energy management and Anastasia

Anastasia's background in energy management is Macnica 's energy management system "Kisense®" (hereinafter referred to as "Kisense"). Kisense is an energy management platform used by energy users, prosumers, power generation companies, etc. It collects not only electricity but also various other data such as temperature, humidity, CO2 emissions, and wave height through sensors. The feature is that you can also obtain

Renewable energy is power generation using the natural environment. Solar power doesn't generate electricity when it rains, and wind power doesn't generate electricity when there's no wind. From these things, it is said to be unstable power. It is possible to predict the amount of electricity that can be generated based on various data such as the amount of sunshine and wind power, and to balance supply and demand.

Also, Kisense has an excellent API, so it is easy to link with various systems. Even if your municipality uses multiple systems, you can easily connect them. By linking data with other systems, it is possible to collect multiple data and use them for analysis.

When multiple data are organized, precise control using sensors and not just enumerating data can be captured by Anastasia, making it possible to visualize and output only the data that local governments want in an easy-to-understand manner.

Similar to the energy management mentioned earlier, Macnica offers Macnica Mobility Data Platform (Macnica mobility data platform) as a data platform that centrally manages and visualizes data collected from a wide variety of smart mobility in the cloud.

It is envisioned as a tool that can be used mainly for operation management and passenger status management, and for analysis using data obtained from mobility and other data.

It is possible to collect a wide variety of external environment data by utilizing not only the data of the vehicle itself such as brakes and accelerators, but also various sensor data such as cameras and LiDAR. By combining it with Anastasia, we will promote cooperation and cooperation with data other than mobility, and by combining our strengths in AI and analysis with our services, we will support our customers in solving their problems.

What is required of Anastasia (City OS)

Kanae Matsui (hereafter referred to as Mr. Matsui), an associate professor at the Department of Information Systems Engineering, Faculty of System Design Engineering, Tokyo Denki University, and CTO of Expolis, LLC. G.K. The point is that Anastasia will be the foundation, and various applications and data will be available as services on top of that."

When using a PC or smartphone, the purpose is to enhance the application without worrying about the OS. Anastasia needs to cooperate with developers, town planning stakeholders, and other OSes. For users in cities and regions, it is designed to be a method of "using" and "creating" services.

The user interface is also important for utilizing data. What distinguishes Anastasia in that regard? Mr. Matsui said that he will proceed while considering what kind of data cities and regions are composed of in urban development, saying, "Anastasia also uses static and dynamic data when stakeholders in urban development use it. We have set up a user interface to provide it in a form that can be used for community development."

As for the main interface, it is aligned with the standard applications used by many people today. Therefore, it is designed to be easily accessible on a daily basis, rather than giving a special feeling because it is City OS.

So what are the differentiating factors from other platforms? Mr. Matsui said, "Since cooperation with other platforms is essential, we will comply with technical standardization. However, there is no need for learning costs such as administrators learning a special OS called 'City OS' from scratch. It has become."

In particular, we believe that we need technology that service players, including Macnica, would like to use. explains Mr. Matsui. With the spread of programming and STEM education, it is becoming possible for many residents to develop and operate services using city OS. Since our mission is to enrich our services, we will emphasize the state of the technology that many developers will want to use.

This diagram is a conceptual diagram of Macnica 's ideal smart city platform. In the "co-creation area" surrounded by a yellow frame, Macnica and Anastasia will collaborate and co-create as they proceed with development.

What are the future developments? Mr. Matsui said, "In the future, Anastasia will provide excellent solutions to regional issues nationwide by collaborating with players who are developing services as urban and regional solutions, and by collaborating with other city OSs. Our goal is to

Macnica 's autonomous driving technology and EMS services are not just technologies; they propose a new way of living that will make life more comfortable." Through co-creation, we do not simply deliver technology, but work quickly to create technology that realizes the desired state of the region.
