Introduction

hello!
Under the slogan of "Adding new value to machine tools", he is the founder and secretary of "Team Metal Processing", a team dedicated to proposing AI and IoT solutions to machine tool manufacturers in a escort style. This is KODAI.

This time, we participated in EMO (Exposition Mondiale de la Machine Outil) 2019, one of the world's three major machine tool trade fairs, held in Hannover, Germany from September 16th to 21st.

It is a place that everyone who likes machine tools wants to visit at least once.
In this column, we aim to give everyone a sense of realism as if they were participating in EMO 2019. will be delivered three times in total.

Part 1: Hannover & EMO is like this
Part 2: What is the overall technology trend?
Part 3: Fukahori of technology trends delivered from a unique perspective by Moriri, who is in charge of technology

Now, we will deliver the first “What Hannover & EMO is like”.

What is Hannover like?

First of all, I would like to start by telling people who have never been to Hannover or EMO about the atmosphere.
As this is my first trip to Europe, I am very excited, but I hope that you will continue to support me until the very end.

Well, after 15 hours from Haneda via Munich, we finally made it to Hannover!

The airport where I landed is also full of EMO mode

I immediately found an advertisement for DMG Mori Seiki! By the way this is me

city of hanover

As for the city of Hannover, it has a population of about 500,000 people, and the townscape feels like the good old days of Europe.
The city is also home to the headquarters of Continental, an international auto parts manufacturer, and is a city of thriving commerce and industry.
In terms of scale, I got the impression that it was similar to Kanazawa when compared to Japan.
For a moment, is EMO = MEX Kanazawa? I'm excited, but I'm going to marvel at the size of the scale later.
Soccer is a popular sport here, and it is also home to Hannover 96, to which Japan's national team Genki Haraguchi belongs.

Let me give you a little taste of the city.

If you walk a little from the station, the streets of good old Europe spread out.

The church, the symbol of the city, can be seen from anywhere in the city.

Castle-like city hall

It goes without saying that the city is dominated by German cars, and Japanese cars are almost non-existent.
Benz and BMW were running like Fit and Corolla.
As an aside, the other day I went sightseeing in Egypt, which was full of bumpy 90's Japanese cars.

I found it in the middle of the day.
The most popular means of transport for Hanover citizens...

Its name is TIER mobility!

TIER mobility

With Moriri-kun from the technology I went with

Overview of TIER mobility

  • Electric scooter sharing service
  • You can use it immediately after registering the payment destination with the smartphone app
  • When the registration is completed, the bikes rolling in the city will be displayed on the map, so select any bike
  • When you finish the payment, the engine of the motorcycle lights up
  • 20 km/h maximum speed. pretty fast
  • About 0.2 EUR/minute. Perfect for short city trips

In Germany, a sharing electric scooter service like TIER seems to be spreading as a means of transportation.
Please try it when you go to Germany.

In addition, if you run on the stone pavement, your vision will be so shaky that your dentures will come off, so please be careful.

Food & Drink in Hannover

I reaffirmed that there is nothing like the combination of sausage and beer that invites people to the world of pleasure.
I will introduce this shop at the end of this column.

Let's go to the EMO venue

Well, it's been a long introduction, but we've finally arrived at the EMO venue.
Let's go to the venue...

And before that, I am sorry to say that I have now conquered all three major machine tool trade fairs in the world!
At the age of 31, he set a milestone.

I would like to compare the three exhibitions here.
If you compare again, each exhibition has a color.

Now, I would like to share my three honest impressions of participating in EMO2019.

① The venue is huge
The first thing that catches your eye in the table above is the overwhelming display area.
In fact, it is four times that of JIMTOF.
The venue, the Hannover International Trade Fair, has a total area of approximately 1 million square meters and is registered in the Guinness World Records as the world's largest exhibition hall.
Ladies and gentlemen, this 1 million m2... I don't think it's a very large image, but how large do you think it would be?

In fact, it is almost the same as adding the total area of Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea!

If you don't go around this as planned, the sun will go down in no time.
There is a patrol bus in the venue, so we recommend that you take advantage of it.

② Overwhelmed by the scale of DMG MORI SEIKI
Along with the scale of the exhibition, I was astounded by the exhibition of the entire hall of DMG Mori Seiki, following JIMTOF2018!
There is no longer a huge private exhibition in a different space.
As expected of DMG Mori Seiki in the world, the scale is incomparable.

The exhibition booth intentionally reduces the number of machines, emphasizing the sophisticated space design.
The exhibition hall and stage were mainly on the 1st floor, and the 2nd floor was a large business negotiation booth, and many business negotiations were held.
I asked one of the people in charge, and they said that even in the past week alone, a considerable number of orders have moved by the minute.
It seems that it is not only an exhibition of cutting-edge technology, but also a place for important business negotiations with customers.

The view from the second floor. Overwhelming size that seems to be able to take a whole soccer court.

③ Global feeling
If you look around the booths, you'll see many machine tool manufacturers from around the world that you won't see at JIMTOF.
About 10% of the visitors to JIMTOF are from overseas, while over 50% of the visitors to EMO are from overseas.
In addition, since sales companies from all over the world will be gathered, it is a major objective for machine tool manufacturers to develop overseas sales channels.

However, even among them, the presence of a Japanese machine tool manufacturer was particularly outstanding.
I am proud to say that we are a powerhouse of machine tool technology.

In addition, I was able to interact with many developers of machine tool manufacturers who are indebted to me on a daily basis.

In the evening, I was invited as a guest to a social gathering for the EMO Hanover 2019 inspection team by Nippon Machine Tool Industry, along with Professor Emeritus Shimizu of Sophia University, who has been indebted to me on a regular basis.
More than 50 people from all over Japan participated in the venue, and we were able to interact with machine tool manufacturers and universities.
Even though it's just a machine tool exhibition, I found it very interesting to see that everyone was looking at the exhibition from various perspectives according to their duties.

I gave a guest speech at the banquet.

Well, the special time is still continuing.

In Part 2, I would like to touch on the technology trends we saw at EMO 2019.

*Now, everyone, please wait. It is a restaurant I would like to recommend in Hannover, but here! There was only an introduction to the so-called “Schweinsteiger Asakura”, who is most familiar with Germany at our company, and I had no hesitation in its taste.
In fact, it seems that it is a famous shop in the local area, and it is often said that it is not possible to enter.
Although it was only 18:00 when we visited, the restaurant was full and we were guided to the outside terrace.

Now the food has been brought.

Germany has an image of sausages, but it seems that pork feet dishes are surprisingly famous.
If there was a tabelog German version, the quality would definitely be 3.5 or higher. Please do visit us when you come to Hannover!
