Macnica Announces New autonomous driving EV Bus "EVO3" Manufactured by French Subsidiary Navya Mobility - Equipped with the Latest "Navya Drive" Software as Standard, Delivering Safer, More Reliable, and More Comfortable autonomous driving Services -
Macnica (headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter referred to as Macnica") announced today that it will begin sales of the new autonomous driving EV bus, "EVO3," manufactured by Macnica 's subsidiary, Navya Mobility SAS (headquarters: France; CEO: Jean-Claude Bailly; hereinafter referred to as "Navya").
The vehicle, manufactured at Navya's Saint-Vallier plant in France, can carry up to 15 passengers (11 seated and 4 standing), has an average operating time of approximately 10 hours, and can be driven without an operator on public and private roads.
■Features and technological innovation
●Improved safety
・Navya's autonomous driving software, "Navya Drive," offers a flexible, vehicle-independent software solution with a newly designed architecture. It complies with the international safety standard IEC61508 * 1 and is compatible with a variety of driving scenarios.
- With a maximum speed of 30km/h, it adapts naturally to urban traffic while providing even greater driving comfort.
Enhanced sensing functions and the latest algorithms improve driving performance
A newly updated autonomous driving sensor set provides 360° visibility and technical redundancy.
- Algorithms incorporating machine learning and AI have been used to improve site mapping capabilities, obstacle avoidance, lane changing, and traffic light and emergency vehicle recognition, improving drivability in complex urban environments.
●Providing smooth and optimal remote monitoring operations
・High-performance cameras and VOIP optimize remote, real-time monitoring. From vehicles in motion to operations, enhanced data collection and analysis capabilities are available, enabling full remote support.
・In accordance with legal regulations, Level 4 autonomous driving (without an in-vehicle operator) will be realized in some countries and on private land, which will enable reduced operating costs and improved vehicle utilization, significantly reducing TCO (total cost of ownership).
■Market development and growth strategies
In the Japanese market, autonomous driving services are already in the transitional phase from demonstration testing to regular operation, and we plan to sell and deploy the EVO3 as a low-speed mobility vehicle for public transportation. This fiscal year, a first in Japan *2, six municipalities, including the five Tono cities of Gifu Prefecture (Ena, Tajimi, Nakatsugawa, Mizunami, and Toki) and Gero City, were selected for a wide-area collaboration and autonomous driving demonstration project by the Japanese government (an initiative promoting the digitalization of local transportation, including the goal of introducing autonomous driving vehicles to more than 100 locations and achieving Level 4 operation by 2027*3). Toward regular operation in the target areas, we will continue to deepen business development with our sales partner and Navya joint venture, NTT West Corporation, while aiming to expand sales in the Japanese market.
In overseas markets, we will enter into a business partnership with Zenmov Inc. as a sales channel partner in September 2025 *4 and will expand sales of the EVO3 in the Middle East, Asia, and North America.
