Macnica (hereinafter referred to as "Macnica", a total service and solution provider in semiconductors, networks, cybersecurity, and AI/IoT, headquartered in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, President: Kazumasa Hara, capital: 11,194 million yen), is a subsidiary of PerceptIn Japan G.K. (hereinafter referred to as "Perceptin", headquartered in Hong Kong, President: Shaoshan Liu) and the Osaki Kamijima Town Smart Island Promotion Council* 1, which was adopted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's "Smart Island Promotion Demonstration Survey *2" Fujitsu Limited (hereinafter referred to as "Fujitsu") is pleased to announce that it will provide a autonomous driving solution using the compact autonomous driving vehicle "macniCAR-01" for the "Demonstration Experiment Aiming to Establish a New Transportation and Logistics Means on Island Using On-Demand Transportation Technology and Small Autonomous Vehicles" to be conducted in collaboration with Fujitsu Limited.

This demonstration experiment is a project that the Osakikamijima Town Smart Island Promotion Council applied for and was selected for the "Smart Island Promotion Demonstration Survey" of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. In Osakikamijima Town, Toyota District, Hiroshima Prefecture, the aging of drivers, a shortage of human resources, and a decrease in the number of users are becoming serious, and there are concerns about the maintenance of public transportation. In addition, many of the townspeople use their own cars, but as the population ages, it will become difficult to drive. .

Regarding this demonstration experiment, Macnica will cooperate with Perceptin to provide the autonomous driving vehicle "macniCAR-01" and support the implementation of autonomous driving, operation planning using the vehicle, operation management, and operation of the experimental vehicle. I will play a role. In addition, through this experiment, we will examine the operational and technical issues associated with autonomous driving, and the parties involved will consider the optimal solution service model for this region in order to put autonomous driving into practical use.

In conducting this demonstration experiment, Sompo Japan Insurance Co., Ltd. conducted a risk assessment of the autonomous driving demonstration experiment. Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. is promoting the commercialization of “Level IV Discovery,” an insurtech solution that supports the safety aspects of an autonomous driving society, with the aim of further popularizing autonomous driving.
Level IV Discovery dedicated site: https://level4-discovery.org/

In collaboration with Perceptin, Macnica will not only provide autonomous driving solutions to service operators in each region through this social experiment, but also support the launch and operation of services. We will work to resolve regional issues.

■Overview of the demonstration experiment

Schedule: December 17, 2020 (Thursday) to December 20, 2020 (Sunday) Total 4 days
Hours: 9:00-12:00, 13:00-16:00
Driving route: About 2 km of the old urban road from "Shiramizu Port" to "Tarumizu Port" on the island
Implementation overview: “Ultra-compact mobility” service using two-seater low-speed electric vehicles

Implementation content :
(1) Transportation using on-demand transportation technology and automated driving vehicles
Users wishing to travel between Shiramizu Port and Tarumizu Port can reserve a boarding time via the website or by phone, and a self-driving vehicle with a safety driver will be available via the "on-demand transportation service." Reservation information will be communicated from the call center, and you will be picked up at the designated place at the designated time. Verification tests were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the series of procedures for picking up passengers from one port to the other and vehicle operation management. Test rides on self-driving vehicles are selected from applicants from related parties and townspeople (with requests for cooperation such as questionnaires).
(2) Logistics using on-demand transportation technology and self-driving vehicles
Home delivery users near Shiramizu Port and Tarumi Port place orders for products over the phone to home delivery providers who are also assumed to be business operators near both ports, and the home delivery providers deliver the products. Therefore, make reservations for transportation by self-driving vehicles on the website or by phone. After that, the reservation information is sent from the call center to the self-driving vehicle with the safety driver via the “on-demand transportation service”, and the self-driving vehicle delivers the vehicle to the user. Conduct demonstration experiments to verify effectiveness.

■ Automatic movement vehicle"macniCAR-01"
"macniCAR-01" used for this demonstration experiment is certified as an ultra-compact mobility* 3 Based on the Tajima EV "Tajima Jian" that received the response, Perceptine's autonomous driving driving system "DragonFly" is installed to make it autonomous, acquire a license plate for a minicar, and drive on public roads in a limited operation area. made it possible.

*1 Smart island promotion demonstration survey
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is promoting the realization of "smart islands" that aim to implement new technologies such as ICT and drones in remote island areas in order to solve the problems faced by remote island areas. In order to conduct a demonstration survey for the introduction of the project, we solicited proposals and selected them.

*2 Osakikamijima Town Smart Island Promotion Council
The four companies/organizations that make up the project and the division of roles in the demonstration are as follows.
・Fujitsu Research Institute, Ltd. (headquartered in Ota-ku, Tokyo; Board Director Hideki Kiwaki): Representative organization of the council. Overseeing, coordinating, and implementing the entire demonstration experiment, verification of effects, and compilation.
・Osakikamijima Town (Mayor Yukinori Takada): Coordination with local stakeholders, provision of statistical data necessary for demonstration, etc.
・Sanyo Bus Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Toyota-gun, Hiroshima Prefecture; President: Shunsai Doi): Providing knowledge about the transportation network in Board Director, identifying issues in demonstrations, etc.
・Hiroshima National College of Merchant Marine (located in Toyota-gun, Hiroshima Prefecture, principal: Keisuke Tsuji): Provides knowledge on land and sea transportation, demonstration results, and considerations for the future.

*3 Ultra compact mobility certification system (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism)
With regard to ultra-compact mobility, which is mainly used for short-distance transportation as a convenient means of transportation in the region, safety standards for road transportation vehicles (Ministry of Transport Ordinance No. 67 of 1951 ) (Hereinafter referred to as “safety standards”.) Utilizing the deregulation certification system based on Article 55, Paragraph 1, 1) do not drive on expressways, 2) take measures to ensure safe and smooth traffic. By imposing certain conditions on size, performance, etc., on the condition that the vehicle will be operated in a designated location, etc., some standards will be relaxed to the extent that safety and environmental performance do not deteriorate, and the vehicle will be driven on public roads. It is a system that enables
