The Autoware Foundation (AWF), of which Macnica participates as a premium member, held its first AWF meetup event in Japan on August 6th.

About 40 people from 15 AWF member companies, mainly based in Japan, attended the event, which was held at Nagoya University's Tokyo office. At the workshop of this event, TRI-AD CEO Dr. James Kuffner, Apex.AI CEO Dr. Jan Becker, eSOL CTO Masaki Gondo, and Tier IV There were update presentations from member companies, including CTO Shinpei Kato, Associate Professor of the University of Tokyo.

At the networking event that followed, the participants were able to communicate more deeply through the exchange of information among the participating members.

Throughout the event, the participating members showed great interest in Autoware and the technologies of each company, and I believe that it also led to a valuable opportunity to think about collaboration among members.

AWF's events are ROSCon JAPAN, which will be held in Tokyo from September 24th to 25th, and ROSCon 2019, which will be held in Macau from October 31st to November 1st. AWF will also participate in SEMICON Japan at the end of the year and the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, USA in January 2020. We will participate in these events as AWF and aim to spread AUTOWARE widely.

Macnica has become a premium member of AWF. Through this activity, we will continue to aim to build mutually beneficial relationships among AWF members and contribute to the development of autonomous driving services and technology.
