Macnica launches "Macnicut," a heat-shielding window coating that provides both heat shielding and energy saving simply by applying it to windows. This product reduces the load on air conditioning systems, contributing to CO2 reduction and a more comfortable indoor environment.

Macnica (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter referred to as Macnica) announced today that it will begin offering "Macnicut," a heat-shielding coating for windows, to corporations and businesses. This coating significantly reduces near-infrared rays, which cause heat, while maintaining brightness, simply by being applied to existing window glass. This product will reduce the air conditioning load in the summer, simultaneously achieving energy savings in buildings and creating comfortable spaces.

■Background
In office buildings and restaurants, air conditioning accounts for a large portion of electricity consumption during the summer months. According to a survey by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, it accounts for approximately 49% in office buildings and approximately 51% in restaurants. * 1 One of the main factors contributing to this is the heat (near-infrared radiation) contained in sunlight entering through windows. Amidst the growing demand for a decarbonized society and ESG management, minimizing heat gain through windows has become a crucial challenge in achieving both energy efficiency and comfort in buildings.

■What is Macnicut a heat-shielding paint for windows?
"Macnicut Window Heat-Shielding Paint" is a window heat-shielding coating agent that, when applied to existing window glass, efficiently cuts near-infrared rays (heat rays), the main cause of heat, thereby reducing indoor heat and air conditioning load. It is designed to allow "visible light" contained in sunlight to pass through while cutting "near-infrared rays," which cause heat, and "ultraviolet rays," which are a concern for their impact on the indoor environment. As a result, it effectively prevents heat from entering the room while maintaining visibility and brightness.

■ Advantages of Macnicut window heat-shielding paint
The main benefits are as follows:
Energy saving and cost optimization through reduced air conditioning load. By suppressing the rise in room temperature during the summer months, it is possible to reduce electricity consumption by approximately 10-20% annually, depending on the facility's conditions.
Maintaining a comfortable indoor environment through adequate lighting.: Visible light (clear type) * 2 Because it transmits approximately 81% of light, it prevents the room from becoming dark, maintaining natural brightness and visibility.
Blocks approximately 99% of ultraviolet rays. This product prevents fading and deterioration of products and interiors, and also reduces the number of insects attracted to light, thereby lessening the burden of cleaning and hygiene management.
Long-term durability and safety In addition to being installed from the inside and expected to last for more than 10 years, it also meets the "F☆☆☆☆" rating, which is the lowest standard for formaldehyde emission.
Reduce construction period and costs Since it is applied to the existing window glass from the inside, there is no need to replace the glass. This allows for installation with reduced construction time and costs.

■Regarding the future
Macnica will contribute to solving heat countermeasures and energy-saving challenges by providing this product to a wide range of buildings, including offices and tenant buildings, commercial facilities (retail and restaurants), hotels and other accommodation facilities, medical, educational and public facilities, and even factories and warehouses with large openings.

*2: Macnicut window heat-shielding paint comes in two types: a "clear type" that prioritizes brightness, and a "blue type" that cuts more near-infrared rays (heat) and has superior heat-shielding effect. You can choose the type that best suits the building's environment and intended use.
