The Mercury Pollution Control Law, which is a domestic law to take necessary measures based on the Minamata Convention on Mercury, which came into effect on August 16, 2017, has been enacted.
Due to the effectuation of regulations concerning the manufacture, etc. of specific mercury-using products based on Article 6 of the Mercury Pollution Control Act, the manufacture of products using mercury will be regulated, and imports and exports will also be regulated. The regulations also include lighting equipment, and from 2020 it will be inevitable to switch to LED.
