Demonstration of film-type perovskite solar cells in residential facilities selected for Tokyo Metropolitan Government promotion project
Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Shinichi Sasayama, hereinafter "Tokyo Gas") and Macnica (President and CEO: Kazumasa Hara, hereinafter "Macnica") are collaborating with Iida Group Holdings Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Iida GHD") and Reiko Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Reiko") to develop "Air Solar," a film-type perovskite solar cell for use on the walls and balconies of residential facilities. * 1 A demonstration project to evaluate the workability and power generation performance of this system (hereinafter referred to as "this demonstration project") has been carried out as part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Air Solar Social Implementation Promotion Project." * 2 was adopted.

As part of its energy policy direction, the Seventh Basic Energy Plan calls for renewable energy to become the primary power source and for its maximum introduction, with solar power generation projected to account for 23-29% of the power generation mix in 2040. Furthermore, Tokyo has set a policy goal of installing 3.5 million kilowatts of solar power generation facilities within the city by 2035, with the aim of achieving zero emissions in Tokyo by 2050. Air Solar, which is "thin, light, and flexible," and the development of new installation methods, have made it possible to install solar panels in places where installation was difficult with conventional solar panels, such as on walls, balconies, and indoors, and are expected to accelerate the spread of solar power generation facilities in homes.
The demonstration will utilize a model house * 3 in Hino City provided by Iida GHD, and will install Air Solar, developed and manufactured by Macnica and Reiko, using an installation method developed by Tokyo Gas. The power generation performance at each installation location will be evaluated, as well as the reliability of the installation method. Tokyo Gas will apply the installation and analysis techniques it has cultivated through its research and business on solar power generation to this demonstration. Macnica will provide its technical capabilities for this demonstration, leveraging the extensive know-how it has cultivated through its previous demonstration projects related to perovskite solar cells.
Through this demonstration project, we will accelerate the social implementation of Air Solar in homes and contribute to the realization of the Japanese government's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
