Macnica joins as a founding member of the Perovskite Solar Cell Social Implementation Promotion Council, where PSC developer Professor Miyasaka serves as chief technical advisor

Macnica (headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter Macnica) announced today that it has participated as a founding member of the Perovskite Solar Cell Social Implementation Promotion Council, which was established with the aim of accelerating the social implementation of perovskite solar cells (hereinafter PSCs), which are attracting attention as the next-generation solar cell. PSC developer, Project Professor Miyasaka, serves as chief technical advisor.

In recent years, the expansion of renewable energy has become an urgent priority due to global issues such as climate change countermeasures and the promotion of carbon neutrality. In this context, PSCs, which offer features such as high efficiency, low cost, and light weight, have the potential to contribute to the construction of new energy infrastructure, and great expectations are being placed on them.

However, there are many challenges to be overcome before PSC can be put into practical use in society, including "promotion of technological development," "establishment of construction and maintenance methods," "adaptation to legal systems," and "development of collection and recycling structures." To resolve these issues and realize the early practical application of PSC, it is essential to further strengthen collaboration between industry, government, and academia and promote efforts across society.

Against this background, the Perovskite Solar Cell Social Implementation Promotion Council was established on March 28, 2025, based on a proposal by Professor Tsutomu Miyasaka of Toin University of Yokohama, the world's pioneer in developing PSCs, and led by Member of the Board companies including Macnica.
Together with the member companies of the consortium, which are involved in a wide range of markets and industries, Macnica will share information and exchange opinions within the consortium to consider implementing demonstration projects and engage in activities to raise awareness of PSC, in order to promote its social implementation and spread in various markets.
