"Kids Recycling Challenge" to be held at the 44th Yokohama Port Opening Festival

Macnica will provide its Meltoking® waste drying and reduction device and KASHIN INFINITY waste plastic reduction device at the 44th Yokohama Port Opening Festival from Sunday, June 1st to Monday, June 2nd, 2025, and will host the "Chibikko Recycle Challenge" event with the aim of teaching children the importance of a circular economy.

Event overview

At this event, plastic bottle caps will be collected and turned into oil using the waste plastic reduction device "KASHIN INFINITY." There will also be a study session on resource circulation and a tour of the oil extraction process after the conversion to oil.
In addition, in collaboration with the Yokohama Junior Chamber of Commerce, food waste and plastic waste from the festival will be recycled on-site, demonstrating the importance of resource circulation.

On the day, we will give away sweets to those who bring in plastic bottle caps. We hope that this will be an opportunity for local residents and tourists to have fun, while also learning about the significance of reducing CO2 emissions through waste disposal.

Japan is facing an urgent waste disposal problem

Waste disposal is currently a global issue. There are problems such as waste flowing into the environment due to the increase in waste generated by economic growth, CO2 emissions from transporting and incinerating waste, and limitations in the costs and processing capacity of landfills and recycling. In recent years, problems have also been raised regarding the export of waste to developing countries. In Japan, too, the reduction of waste volume and CO2 emissions related to recycling and waste are major issues for local governments.
As a circular economy business, Macnica develops and sells products and systems that contribute to carbon neutrality and resource circulation, and promotes corporate activities that contribute to "creating, using, and reusing energy" and "not waste being waste." In the midst of this, we believe it will be necessary to shift from the method of processing local waste at large facilities to a decentralized waste processing system in which waste generators take responsibility for reducing and recycling waste.
