Macnica signs agreement with Ena City, Gifu Prefecture to develop city using next-generation mobility; conducts first autonomous driving demonstration experiment in Ena City

Macnica (Headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter referred to as Macnica) announced today that it has signed a partnership agreement with Ena City, Gifu Prefecture (Mayor: Takamine Kosaka) to promote urban development using next-generation mobility. In addition, the city will conduct the first autonomous driving demonstration experiment in Ena City.

Background
Macnica TMG (TMG) has been promoting community development activities through the social implementation of next-generation mobility in various regions of Japan. As we were exchanging opinions on community development, we were connected with the "Tono Area autonomous driving Special Zone Promotion Project Team (Gifu Prefecture, Tajimi City, Nakatsugawa City, Mizunami City, Ena City, Toki City, and Gero City)" launched in 2024, which led to autonomous driving discussions on social implementation with the local governments and related parties involved in this project. In the course of discussions with the municipalities involved in this project (Tajimi, Nakatsugawa, Mizunami, Ena, Toki, and Gero Cities in Gifu Prefecture), we have concluded a city development cooperation agreement with Ena City, which is already working toward new community development and is eager to implement autonomous driving into society.

■ Purpose
Macnica and Ena City will work together and cooperate to introduce next-generation mobility in Ena City, with the aim of further revitalizing the region, improving the lives of its residents, and contributing to the promotion of urban development.

■Content of the Agreement
(1) Matters relating to efforts toward the implementation of next-generation mobility.
(2) Matters concerning regional revitalization and improving the mobility environment through the implementation of next-generation mobility.
(3) Other matters necessary to achieve the purpose.

■ Overview of the demonstration experiment
The first autonomous driving demonstration experiment will be conducted in Ena City.

(1) Date and time: Saturday, November 23, 2024
11:00am to 1:00pm (6 flights scheduled)
From 3:40 pm to 4:40 pm (3 trips scheduled)
(2) Departure and arrival point: Ena Station bus stop
(3) Details of the project:
・Level 2 autonomous driving demonstration experiment
(This is an experiment of partially automated driving in which the accelerator, brakes, and steering are all partially automated. Level 5 refers to fully autonomous driving driving.)
The course is a circular tour around the station starting and ending at the Ena Station bus stop.
・Distance is approximately 700m, ride time is approximately 15 minutes
- Maximum number of passengers: 9 (8 passengers + 1 driver)
- Maximum speed: 18km/h
