Macnica begins offering communications equipment that enables low-cost construction of mesh networks - Signs official partnership agreement with U.S. broadband communications technology company Rajant -

Macnica (headquarters: Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter referred to as Macnica) announced today that it has entered into an official partnership agreement with Rajant Corporation (headquarters: Malvern, Pennsylvania, USA; co-founders: Bob Skeena and Paul Hellhake; hereinafter referred to as Rajant) and will begin offering the BreadCrumb series of communications devices and related software that enable the deployment of highly robust mesh networks at low cost.

Macnica has been focusing on the development of the Macnica Mobility Data Platform (hereinafter referred to as Macnica Mobility Data Platform), a platform for visualizing, analyzing, and analyzing data in a cloud environment to support the development and operation of a wide variety of mobility. When developing Macnica Mobility Data Platform, it is important to build a communication infrastructure. In other words, in order to remotely manage and control mobility operating in remote locations, it is essential to build a stable Internet environment.

However, the LTE and Wi-Fi lines that have been widely used in the past have the risk of communication connections being cut off or not being able to connect at all in places with many obstacles. Unstable environments can also cause problems with operation management. In addition, there is a limit to the distance of the base station or access point to which the client terminal connects, so in order to build a network over a wide area, it was necessary to increase the number of them.

The "BreadCrumb Series," which we have just started handling, realizes the creation of a stable network environment by utilizing Rajant's "Kinetic Mesh" system, which can create a dynamic mesh network that can continuously transmit large amounts of data without interruption. In addition, since each terminal plays the role of both a client and infrastructure, it is easy to create a dynamic wireless mesh network.

Local 5G is a way to build a high-speed, highly stable network, but it requires the installation of dedicated server equipment, construction of dedicated base stations, and obtaining licenses, which incurs a huge amount of effort and cost. In contrast, this series uses the ISM band used for Wi-Fi and other services to quickly and easily build a high-speed, robust network that is less likely to be interrupted. In addition, this series offers a wide range of products to choose from depending on the application, from models for infrastructure to compact models that are easy to implement in small robots, allowing for flexible network construction.

Ensuring security is crucial for data communications and is one of Rajant's key features. The series can be configured with both packet encryption and MAC address encryption to protect packets of devices and people who directly access the mesh network. Kinetic Mesh provides end-to-end information assurance across the entire network with military and government grade security features.
This series has a proven track record in a variety of locations and applications, such as data collection on test courses during vehicle development, operation management of automatic transport robots in logistics warehouses with many obstacles such as fences and shelves, and at train stations, airports, and mining sites with poor communication conditions.

By adding Rajant products to its LTE and Wi-Fi lines, which have been used as standard, Macnica has been able to expand its capabilities to build robust networks even in areas where communication is difficult, such as tunnels. Macnica offers its original remote monitoring system "everfleet"for the operation management of autonomous driving EV buses, and can propose operation management solutions using "everfleet" and mobility that supports autonomous driving and autonomous operation. In the future, by combining these Macnica solutions with this series, we will be able to provide a one-stop service for building stable communication infrastructure and consistent systems. We will continue to propose new services and products to solve problems and contribute to the expansion of our customers' businesses.

*: everfleet (Macnica remote monitoring system)

In order to put autonomous driving into practical use, it is necessary to remotely monitor the passengers inside the vehicle and the surroundings of the vehicle. everfleet integrates and centrally visualizes vehicle data such as vehicle speed, steering, and remaining battery power in addition to mobility location information and camera images inside and outside the vehicle, and external data that is coordinated with traffic infrastructure such as traffic lights. It is also possible to collaborate with This makes it possible to grasp the operation status from a remote location in real time and operate autonomous driving mobility safely and securely. Furthermore, the system can simultaneously manage a wide variety of mobility vehicles in multiple regions and automatically detect and notify abnormalities during operation, allowing a single remote operator to efficiently manage the operation of autonomous driving mobility vehicles. By doing so, we can realize labor-saving operations and contribute to improving transportation profitability.
