Macnica (hereinafter Macnica; headquartered in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; President: Kazumasa Hara; capital: 11,194 million yen), a total service/solution provider in semiconductors, networks, cybersecurity, and AI/IoT, will be conducting demonstration tests on public roads in Misakubo-cho, Tenryu-ku, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture in collaboration with PerceptIn Japan, LLC (hereinafter "PerceptIn"; headquartered in Hong Kong; CEO: Shaoshan Liu) of autonomous driving ultra-compact mobility vehicle "macniCAR-01."

This demonstration experiment is a Perceptin demonstration experiment project adopted by the Hamamatsu City-supported Demonstration Experiment Support Project* 1, and aims to contribute to solving regional issues in Hamamatsu City and improving the quality of citizens' lives. The demonstration experiment involved an autonomous driving supercomputer developed by Macnica, Perceptin, and Tajima EV Co., Ltd. (Tajima EV, head office location: Itabashi-ku, Tokyo, Representative Board Director, Chairman, President/CEO: Nobuhiro Tajima). Using the small mobility vehicle "macniCAR-01", Perceptin's unique concept of "Micro Robot Taxi Mopi" (hereinafter referred to as "Mopi") taxi service will be operated. Macnica will provide vehicles for demonstration experiments, implement autonomous driving, and manage operations, while Perceptin will provide autonomous driving systems and taxi services.

In the demonstration experiment, we asked local residents to test drive the macniCAR-01 in a section of about 2 kilometers in the town. By collecting opinions, issues in operation will be clarified. Based on the results of the demonstration experiment, we will continue to support future implementation with Hamamatsu City and local transportation operators.

In conducting this demonstration experiment, Sompo Japan Insurance Co., Ltd. conducted a risk assessment of the autonomous driving demonstration experiment. Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. is promoting the commercialization of “Level IV Discovery,” an insurtech solution that supports the safety aspects of an autonomous driving society, with the aim of further popularizing autonomous driving.
