Macnica Supports Implementation of PLM (Teamcenter X) and MES (Opcenter) - Optimizing product design and manufacturing processes by achieving digital thread -

Macnica (Headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture; Representative Director and President: Kazumasa Hara; hereinafter Macnica) announced today that it has provided Mujin Inc. (hereinafter Mujin) with its PLM (product lifecycle management) system "Teamcenter X * 1" and MES (manufacturing execution system) "Opcenter * 2," helping the company realize data sharing across departments (digital thread * 3). This will enable Mujin to realize efficient digital data sharing in its quality control system, further improving the efficiency of its internal operations.

Background
Mujin is a comprehensive automation technology company that has created next-generation automated factories and warehouses based on its own software. As they were using separate tools for process management, manufacturing orders, inventory management, inspection results, etc., they were looking to further improve efficiency and strengthen their operations in the following areas:

1. Eliminate inefficiencies by tracking production history and supporting audits.
2. Improved efficiency in linking production records with production process versions.
3. Further improving the reliability of information by strengthening the ability to change and correct inspection results and work history after they have been confirmed.

In order to further strengthen these three points, we decided to introduce a PLM system (Teamcenter X), which can manage requirement specifications and inspection specifications using a unified data model, and an MES (Opcenter), which can manage manufacturing processes in real time.

■Features
Teamcenter X (Cloud PLM)
- Integrated management of design, development, manufacturing (supplier information), and quality information.
-Ensuring traceability: Centralized management of specifications, including change history.
Opcenter (MES)
- Real-time manufacturing process management: Manage work instructions and quality inspections at the manufacturing site in real time.
- Linking with performance data: Quality data from the time of manufacturing is compared with the required specifications and inspection specifications, and feedback is provided.
- Improved quality through standardization: Seamless collaboration through standardization of inspection processes based on specifications.

■ Macnica 's Support
We made the most of the standard functions of Teamcenter X and Opcenter, while providing support to fill in any gaps that were required by the client's business requirements. At the same time, we customized and tuned the system as necessary, helping to implement it in a way that fit Mujin's business processes.

■ Benefits of implementation
1. Unified data management and improved searchability
- Manufacturing history can now be easily referenced, reducing time and improving accuracy in quality management.
2. Process optimization and quality improvement
- All process data from acceptance, inspection, testing, and shipping is centrally managed on the MES, improving consistency of quality control.
3. Reduce confidentiality risks and audit burden
- Clearly manage users and permissions to further reduce data confidentiality risks.
- Manage the authority to correct production procedures and inspection results and change history to ensure product quality.

■ Future outlook
Through this initiative, Macnica will support Mujin in strengthening its quality control system and thoroughly streamlining its operations to help the company prosper.
