What is the Extended Exchange Option (EEO)?

Many companies are troubled by unexpected increases in costs after the standard warranty period has expired due to the inability to predict the cost of maintenance items. Furthermore, it is difficult to receive the same warranty at overseas bases, and there are concerns about securing genuine maintenance items. The management burden caused by the difference in warranty periods between equipment and electrical items, as well as the inability to flexibly choose warranty periods, are also common issues in the field.

The Extended Exchange Option (EEO) is an option that solves these complex issues all at once. It not only ensures rapid replacement in the event of a breakdown, but also minimizes cost risks, provides global warranty coverage, and offers flexible warranty periods, ensuring the peace of mind needed for long-term operation. For companies planning long-term operation, it is an extremely effective option that allows for budget management, international support, and a unified warranty.

* Mounting materials (DIN rails, fuses, plugs, cables, etc.), software, printed materials, etc. are not subject to EEO.

EEO Extended Period Option

EEO allows you to flexibly select the period for which you can extend replacement service after the standard warranty expires. The contract period can be set up to five years, allowing you to select the warranty period that best suits your product lifecycle and capital planning. The diagram below shows the relationship between the standard warranty and EEO extension period. You can see at a glance when EEO can be applied and how long it can be extended.

* EEO begins 12 months after the product leaves the factory.

* The minimum EEO period is 6 months, and can be selected in 6-month increments up to a maximum of 48 months. When combined with the standard warranty, the maximum warranty period is 60 months in total.

* If necessary, an existing EEO can be extended only once during the contract period, up to a total of 48 months.

EEO Certification: A key document for contracts and exchanges

When you order EEO, you will receive a PDF certificate. This certificate serves as a contract and is an important document for ensuring a smooth exchange process.
The certificate contains the following information:


EEO Contract number, contracting party (customer contact), contract period,
Header containing end-user location-information
Approved bill of materials including order number, serial number and quantity (BOM)
・Standard Terms of Use

Furthermore, this certificate is transferable, i.e. from the equipment manufacturer to the end user. * The end user can then use the certificate to request a replacement directly from Siemens.

*If the EEO certificate is transferred to an end user outside of Japan, the EEO agreement will be transferred to the local Siemens, and the Siemens General Sales Agreement will apply to transactions with that local Siemens.

EEO Substitute Request Process

EEO provides a system that allows end users to directly request replacement parts from local Siemens locations around the world when requesting a replacement part in the event of a breakdown. This system enables rapid parts supply regardless of country or region, supporting global equipment operation. The diagram below shows the flow of a replacement part request and how local customer service responds.
