Cyberattacks, which can cause enormous damage, such as the leakage of personal information and national secret information, have diversified and evolved in a clever manner along with the spread of the Internet, the shift to DX in companies, and the introduction of telework. There was a team that continued to fight with passion to detect trends that change day by day and protect customers from unknown threats.

Chapter 1Looking to the Future, Signing Contracts with Overseas Startups

In 2013, most security products at the time were focused on detecting known threats, and lacked countermeasures against new threats that could evade network security. It was a time when there were still very few efforts to introduce new security methods in Japan, and only a few overseas start-up companies were just beginning to consider cutting-edge security mechanisms. “At that time, the field of EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), which monitors the status of computers and tablets and detects abnormalities to deal with unknown threats, had not yet been established.Cybersecurity is constantly evolving.The industry "We needed to be on the cutting edge of technology and prepare for not only known but also unknown threats," Teshigahara recalls. As a countermeasure against unknown threats, Macnica entered into a business agreement with CrowdStrike Holdings、Inc., which handles next-generation endpoint security solutions. We started sales promotion activities for EDR products, which had not been done yet.

Chapter 2Proven Need for New Technology

Since a certain time, there has been a sudden increase in the number of malicious software targeting Japanese companies, and cyber terrorism attacks such as those that target files that are shared on networks within corporate organizations and those that threaten to leak confidential files to outside parties are occurring frequently. As a result, the damage continued to become more serious, disrupting the operations of factories and medical institutions. At the time, thanks to Macnica 's educational activities, the need for next-generation endpoint protection was beginning to trickle down to domestic customers, but only a small percentage of customers were adopting CrowdStrike Holdings、Inc. 's products. Because the problem was not occurring in a place close to the customer, many customers did not have a strong sense of crisis and did not even consider full-scale implementation. Under these circumstances, an incident occurred during the verification period for a certain customer. CrowdStrike Holdings、Inc. detected the malicious software. By being able to detect threats that had bypassed existing security measures at an early stage, we were able to prevent the damage from spreading further. This was the moment when our efforts to appeal to the market were proven through actual testing, and the educational activities we had carried out thus far bore fruit. As the usefulness of CrowdStrike Holdings、Inc. products against new threats became clear, the company's products were subsequently introduced to a variety of customers. Over 700 customers have now installed our products, protecting them from cyber attacks.

Chapter 3Supporting Work Wtyle Reform with Cyber Security

Starting in 2020, due to the impact of COVID-19, companies were required to implement work style reforms such as remote work. Before the spread of the coronavirus, most companies had not made any progress in considering remote work, but thanks to Macnica 's steady efforts to raise awareness and accumulate proposals, EDR products have been highly effective as a security measure. Our customers understood this, and as soon as the coronavirus pandemic hit, we were flooded with inquiries from all over the country regarding security measures during remote work. "We have been very busy responding to inquiries, but the entire department, including sales and engineers, has come together to fight against this unprecedented infection. We are working not only to strengthen the security of each company, but also to contribute to Japanese business as a whole. I responded with a strong feeling of ``Yes!''.In the end, I felt a great sense of accomplishment because I was able to help so many customers with their businesses,'' says Kawasaki. A pandemic like no other in recent years. Many Japanese companies have revised their work styles in order to overcome this crisis. Macnica supports the efforts of its customers from a security perspective.

Chapter4Staying on the Cutting Edge of Cyber Security

Macnica plays a part in the security of Japan's cyber domain by fighting against cyber terrorism, which is becoming more sophisticated and diverse every day, and protecting our customers' businesses. In this day and age, where connectivity through networks has become commonplace, it is expected that the need for security will continue to increase in the future. What would happen if a customer were to fall victim to a cyber attack and their confidential company information or employee personal information was stolen? This may hinder your business expansion. Furthermore, there is a possibility that employees may become involved in crimes. “In order for Japanese society to continue to develop, we want to continue to be a companion who supports and supports our customers in their challenges, and we want to do work that gives us ``impression.'' To achieve this, each and every one of us must work as professionals. We need to act consciously and aim to solve our customers' problems,'' says Suzuki. As a companion that delivers safety and security to our customers in the future, Macnica will continue to be on the cutting edge of security in preparation for new threats, and continue to grow as a team.
