The RL78/Fx series microcontrollers from Renesas Electronics are a family of 16-bit microcontrollers for automotive applications that combine low power consumption with high performance.

While achieving the industry's lowest level of power consumption, it operates at a maximum frequency of 32MHz (51.2DMIPS). A wide range of ROM/RAM is available, and various package pin counts are also supported.

Achieving low power consumption of 37.5μA/MHz during normal operation and 0.355μA during clock operation is expected to significantly improve power efficiency. In addition, by incorporating a high-precision (±1%) high-speed on-chip oscillator, background operation data flash that can be rewritten 1 million times, a temperature sensor, multiple power supply interface ports, etc., it contributes to reducing the cost and size of the entire system.

RL78/F1x Series (F13/F14/F15)

Our broad portfolio covers Flash ROM: 8KB to 512KB, RAM: 4KB to 32KB, and packages ranging from 20 to 144 pins. This extensive lineup allows you to select the optimal device for your application.

Other features include BLDC/FOC motor control, CAN, LIN, UART, CSI, and I2C interfaces. Each device has hardware and software compatibility within the lineup, allowing seamless device changes.

In addition, the operating ambient temperature is supported up to a maximum of 150°C (RL78/F15 is maximum 125°C) and is AEC-Q100 qualified. And with three operating modes, SNOOZE mode, HALT mode, and STOP mode, it achieves ultra-low power consumption, a major feature of the RL78/Fx series.

RL78/F2x Series (F23/F24)

The RL78/F23 and F24 are positioned as the next-generation RL78 series products. While inheriting the low power consumption characteristic of the RL78/F1x series, they are pin-compatible with the RL78/F13 and F14, and maintain a high degree of compatibility with the RL78/F1x in terms of hardware and software, enabling software reuse.
It is also designed in compliance with ISO 26262 and provides functional safety support to achieve ASIL B. In terms of security, it supports EVITA-Light, and the AES encryption module can process key lengths up to 256 bits, supporting secure boot and authentication.

In addition, the MCU is equipped with a proprietary Application Accelerator Unit (AAU) that supports a variety of calculation processes, including complex trigonometric functions, to further improve the calculation performance of BLDC (FOC) motor control and DC/DC control systems.
In addition, the AD converter supports 12-bit conversion and is also compatible with CAN-FD for high-speed communication.
