Content Analysis (CA)

Dual AV + Whitelisting
Reliably block known malware by combining dual AV scanning and threat information DB.

High-speed virus scan realized in cooperation with Edge SWG (formerly ProxySG)

The “Life Cycle Defense” advocated by Broadcom is a solution that optimizes APT countermeasures that have existed individually until now. By linking Blue Coat Intelligence Services and gateway anti-virus with Box, it is possible to reduce the cost of investment in Box, which are responsible for countermeasures against unknown threats. At the same time, it reduces the user's operational burden and enables the handling of targeted attack countermeasures.

Realization of “lifecycle defense” that optimizes detection of unknown threats
Collaboration with Global Intelligence Network

A mechanism that provides threat information on files detected by Symantec products around the world. By working with the Global Intelligence Network, Content Analysis can serve as a more robust threat sensor. The CA can feed detected threat information such as URL, FileHash, Timestamp, and File name to the Global Intelligence Network.

Advantages of Content Analysis (CA)

  • Cooperate with Edge SWG (former ProxySG) to relieve the complexity of operation management
  • Optimized virus scanning in conjunction with Proxy caching technology (rescanning cached objects after pattern file update)
  • Scanning can be skipped using a database of scored File Hash values (whitelist feature)
  • Smooth support by Edge SWG (formerly ProxySG) and CA from the same vendor
  • Multi-layered defense is possible by using it together with the software on the client terminal.
  • By performing AV at the gateway, virus scans are always performed using the latest pattern files (realization of unified security measures)

*Updating the virus software pattern file on the terminal depends on the client
