This document describes how to set up a virtual machine environment using a combination of Oracle® VM VirtualBox (VirtualBox) and CentOS 6.9 (CentOS 6).

This discussion makes use of a virtual OS environment.

  • It runs another OS (guest OS) virtually on top of the physically running OS (host OS).
  • Virtually implement CentOS 6 (Linux) on a PC running Windows® 7.
  • VirtualBox is used as the virtual machine (VM) environment.
  • Install Intel® Quartus® Prime software and Intel® SoC FPGA Embedded Development Suite (SoC EDS) on CentOS 6 virtual implementation.
  • Install FTP / SFTP client program WinSCP on Windows 7 to enable file transfer between Windows 7 (host OS) and CentOS 6 (guest OS).
