Intel Low-Cost FPGA Cyclone® 10 LP

Cyclone® 10 LP FPGAs are the latest low-cost FPGAs from Intel®.
Although it is a low-cost FPGA, it has the following features.

1. Up to 50% power consumption compared to traditional low-cost FPGAs

Up to 50% reduction in static power compared to previous generation Cyclone® V FPGAs. Therefore, it contributes to the extension of operation time in conventional battery applications.

2. Easy to use from 6,000LE logic capacity

Cyclone® 10 LP FPGAs have a logic capacity of 6,000 to 120,000 LE (logic elements). Equivalent to tens of thousands to about 1.4 million gates in terms of ASIC gates.

3. Equipped with internal memory of up to 3.8Mbit

Cyclone® 10 LP FPGAs have dedicated internal memory. Therefore, you can freely create memory configurations such as dual port RAM, FIFO memory, buffer memory, and ROM inside the FPGA.

4. EQFP package that can be mounted on a 4-layer board

BGAs dominate the packages of the latest FPGA devices, including those of our competitors. However, the Cyclone® 10 LP is also available in an EQFP package.

Since the EQFP package can be mounted on a 4-layer board, the overall cost of the product can be reduced.

5. Can be equipped with a digital filter

The Cyclone® 10 LP has a DSP block. FIR filters and IIR filters can be configured by using DSP blocks.

Therefore, it can replace conventional analog filters, contributing to product cost reduction and quality improvement.

Cyclone® 10 LP is suitable for the following applications and can be applied to a wide range of applications.

Cyclone® 10 LP Evaluation Kit "EK-10CL025U256" is Intel's evaluation kit for immediate evaluation of Cyclone® 10 LP.

You can use the Cyclone® 10 LP Evaluation Kit to evaluate:

1. Cyclone® 10 LP Design Design

This evaluation kit features a "10CL025YU256I7G" device with 25,000LEs (Logic Elements).

You can develop and evaluate designs with this device.

2. Extended evaluation using the PMOD interface

PMOD is an I/O interface that can expand the evaluation board provided by Digilent.

Evaluation can be performed by connecting a 12-pin expansion board to the evaluation board.

The expansion board includes a sensor module, Bluetooth development module, etc. The Cyclone® 10 LP evaluation board can be easily expanded using the POMD interface.

Expansion boards can be found on Digilent's website.

3. Extended evaluation using Arduino interface

The Cyclone® 10 LP Evaluation Board has an Arduino UNO R3 interface.

Therefore, you can easily expand the evaluation board using an Arduino UNO R3 compatible shield board.

4. Ethernet evaluation

The Cyclone® 10 LP evaluation board includes an Ethernet PHY and an RJ45 connector. The Cyclone® 10 LP is connected to the PHY through the RGMII interface.

Therefore, Ethernet evaluation using Cyclone® 10 LP FPGA is also possible.

5. Ability to monitor and measure power consumption

The evaluation board includes a power monitor circuit and a Power Monitor application. Therefore, it is possible to measure the power consumption of the Cyclone® 10 LP.

6. Capable of designing mass-produced products based on PCB schematics and design files

The Cyclone® 10 LP Evaluation Kit includes PCB schematics, design files, BOM list, and more.
Therefore, it is possible to shorten the development period by developing based on the layout and circuit diagram.

Cyclone® 10 LP can be designed with free development tools

Cyclone® 10 LP FPGA development requires Intel's Quartus® Prime development tools.

Cyclone® 10 LP can be developed with Quartus® Prime Lite Edition.

Quartus® Prime Lite Edition is available free of charge, so you can start developing immediately after downloading.
