At Macnica Mpression booth at ET2015, we demonstrated a surround view system for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). This page provides an overview of the demo.
Demonstration overview
Surround view generally uses 4 cameras (front, rear, left, and right), but this demo assumes large vehicles and special vehicles, and uses 6 cameras for a truck model.
Images around the vehicle captured by this wide-angle HD camera are transmitted to the surround view system via LVDS. The images from the six cameras are synthesized and processed, and the images output from the DVI terminal are displayed on the display. Each image is corrected and aligned seamlessly with its neighbors, making it appear as if it were shot from a single camera from above.
Here is the realization of this 6-channel in-vehicle surround view system!
Mpression NitroMpression– Cyclone® V GX I/O expansion baseboard.
In the demonstration, this Nitro board is equipped with an Mpression Camera Card (not for sale) and an Embedded Card.
Nitro is powered by Intel® (formerly Altera) Cyclone® V GX FPGA. The video output from the camera is captured by the Nitro board via the Mpression Camera Card, image correction, mapping, rendering, etc. are performed by the FPGA and displayed on the display through the DVI port.
Intel® FPGAs can deliver the stunning HD resolution surround views demanded by next-generation cockpits.
Combining Mpression Nitro board etc., it can be applied to surveillance cameras in addition to surround view.
In this demonstration of the 6-channel surround view system, you can see that when the truck is moved, the images captured by the surrounding cameras are corrected and processed and displayed. Please contact us if you would like to implement this solution.
