JANOG57 Exhibition Report

We exhibited at JANOG57, which was held over three days from Wednesday, February 11th to Friday, February 13th, 2026, and introduced our latest open networking solutions.
In this article, we will introduce what was happening on the day and the exhibits.

Exhibition theme: "From Black Box to White Box" - New Options

The JANOG57 Meeting in Osaka was held over three days from Wednesday, February 11th to Friday, February 13th, 2026, at two venues: the Congress Convention Center near Osaka Station and JAM BASE. Unfortunately, it rained on the first day, but the event was so successful that the start time was brought forward by an hour, despite it being a national holiday.
The number of visitors also reached a record high of 5,291.
In this article, we will introduce the exhibits the Company exhibited and the lectures we gave.

Exhibited Products

White Box switch (Edgecore)

At the Company open networking booth, we will be introducing a networking solution that has been adopted for large-scale HPC clusters. We exhibited Edgecore Networks' 800GbE compatible data center switch AIS800.
AIS800 is equipped with Broadcom Tomahark5
Switch, 51.2Tbps in one directionIt has a switching capacity of
Equipped with 64 800GbE (QSFP-DD800) ports, it can be configured as a breakout logical port.Another major feature is that the number can be flexibly expanded.
This product is designed with AI/ML clusters and HPC applications in mind, and enables low-latency, high-bandwidth communications using Ethernet-based RoCEv2.

Many customers who visited our booth said things like, "Recently, white Box have become a hot topic among our customers and within our companies," which gave us a real sense of growing interest in open networking and white Box.

Cable (Credo)

We will also introduce the purple cable connected to the white Box switch.
This
is AEC (Active Electrical Cable) manufactured by Credo. A major feature of Credo's AEC is that it is less likely to cause link flaps. Link flaprefers to the phenomenon in which a port goes down for a moment, then immediately comes back up.

In typical network environments, link flaps rarely have a significant impact. However,in environments where many nodes work together, such as AI clusters, training processes can be interrupted or resynchronized, which can have a significant impact on AI learning time.To address this issue,Credo's AEC is attracting attention for its ability to suppress increases in AI training time caused by link flaps.

Network Interface Card (Broadcom)

For over 20 years, Broadcom's network interface cards (NICs) have led the networking industry with their high-performance and highly reliable designs.
It supports a wide range of speeds from 1GbE to 400GbE, and also supports the latest PCIe standards, virtualization, and security functions. Its excellent power efficiency contributes to energy savings in large-scale data centers.
With a long-term supply guarantee, it is ideal for long-term operation.

Wild BoF

At this year's JANOG, Takayama from the Company gave a lecture at Nora BoF.
The title of the presentation was "Visualizing NVIDIA GPU, Edgecore Switch, and Application using OSS/Third-Party Tools."

In recent years, AI infrastructure has become increasingly diverse, with components such as GPUs, network devices, and applications, making it increasingly important to visualize them in an integrated manner. In this presentation, we introduced the results of verification of multi-layer visualization of GPUs, switches, and applications using OSS and third-party tools.

For OSS and third-party tools, we use the open source Ray and ONES from Aviz. Ray is open source software for AI workload management, specializing in the execution and management of workloads such as distributed learning, inference, and agent execution. Another major feature is its support for multi-vendor environments.

ONES is a network visualization and configuration tool provided by Aviz, which can display topology diagrams, link status for each port, traffic volume, and more using a GUI.
As a result of the verification, we confirmed that in a multi-vendor environment, ONES can visualize traffic and GPU information in an NVIDIA GPU + Edgecore Switch configuration.

We also demonstrated that Ray can be used to visualize application and GPU information in an NVIDIA GPU + Rebellions NPU cluster configuration.

Meeting diverse needs through the expanding possibilities of white Box

A large number of visitors visited Macnica OpenNetworking over the three days, and the following keywords attracted particular attention.

・High-bandwidth network for AI/ML and GPU processing
・Next-generation network configuration compatible with 800GE
・SONiC compatible white Box switch
Avoid vendor lock-in from Cisco/Juniper

In recent years, the high maintenance costs and limited options of traditional black Box products have become an issue.
We also saw a wide range of technical interests in the industry, including those for research purposes and those wanting to include in-house applications, the need for switches with a small number of ports, and future plans for operational monitoring linked to AI. This resulted in the potential for white Box switches to be able to meet these needs expanding even further.

Summary

Macnica offers pre-verified configuration proposals that combine products from multiple manufacturers, and has a one-stop support system.
Customers can avoid the trouble of checking compatibility between devices and dealing with multiple contact points, minimizing the risks of implementation.

While open networking offers significant advantages in terms of cost, flexibility, and performance, it also brings with it numerous concerns and challenges regarding its implementation and operation.
Macnica will continue to provide optimal solutions, valuing not only technology but also "ease of use and peace of mind for customers."
