Ichibata Light Railway (now Ichibata Electric Railway Co., Ltd.) started operation in 1914 and inherited the railway business operated by the Ichibata Group, which has developed a wide range of businesses such as tourism, leisure, department stores, construction, and real estate. Ichibata Electric Railway Co., Ltd. was born in 2006 after a spin-off type incorporation-type company split.
We operate two lines, the Kita-Matsue Line, which connects Izumoshi Station on the eastern part of Shimane Prefecture to Matsue Shinjiko Onsen Station, and the Taisha Line, which connects Kawaato Station to Izumotaisha-mae Station. Many people use it as a route and as a pilgrimage railway to Izumo Taisha and Ichibata Yakushi.

In 2019, 1.45 million people were transported, and before the corona crisis, inbound demand was expanding, mainly for visiting Izumo Taisha Shrine, making it one of the routes visited by many tourists from all over the world.
Currently, we are receiving support from the Ichibata Electric Railway Line Area Council, which is composed of Shimane Prefecture, Matsue City, and Izumo City, and we are providing safe, secure, and stable transportation services, while contributing to tourism resources in Shimane Prefecture. On the other hand, we are actively working on environmental conservation activities such as reducing carbon dioxide emissions generated in the course of promoting the railway business, so we decided to consider introducing new environmentally friendly lighting equipment.
We focused on the LED lighting that had already been used for the interior lighting in the cabin.

"While participating in initiatives such as park-and-ride, which encourages the use of buses and trains to curb the use of automobiles, we are also promoting activities that lead to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, such as the introduction of regenerative braking that utilizes once-used electricity for braking. As part of that activity, we used LED lighting for the interior lighting, so we decided to switch to LED lighting for the inspection area as well.”
