GitHub Enterprise 2.4 is here!

2015/12/08 (Tue)

Version 2.4.0 was released on October 13, 2015. Let's take a look at what has changed.

Release notes for v2.4.0 arehere.

Protected Branches & Required Status

You can prevent someone from accidentally force pushing or deleting, and you can create a mechanism that prevents merging or pushing unless the requirements are met. Is there anyone who commits and pushes for the time being? Watch out for teams using a single repo with a large number of people! It's a nice feature that protects your branches.

Git LFS

Large File Storage, which has been developed as OSS across industry boundaries, is finally supported by GitHub Enterprise! Pull requests for large amounts of data are OK! Images, audio, and even videos can be managed in repositories.

Organization permission management improvements

The authority that was only for Owner is subdivided, and authority can be set flexibly for each member for each repo. You can reach itchy areas.

Pages can now be made Public even in Private mode

The request "I don't want to publish the repo, but I want to publish only GitHub Pages" has come true! It also supports the Atom distribution format (feed), so it may be useful as an internal bulletin board.

Automatic update check

Automatically check and download the latest version of GitHub Enterprise. A function that was unlikely to exist. Internet connection required.

GeoJSON support

Map data can be imported for rendering and browsing.

Merge button renewal

A MUST-see for those who are merging in text! Although cooperation with CI tools, test tools, etc. is a prerequisite, the results of pre-check items are now displayed more clearly before merging.

U2F support (Universal 2 Factor Authentication)

Can be linked with Yubico's FIDO U2F key, etc. This may be a little too ahead of its time.

LFS looks interesting, so I will introduce it next time!
